I did a good deed

Yesterday I had, had enough with our neighbors neglecting their dog. So to make things better I went over and asked them if they wanted the dog still after they had told me Sat. morning that they would pay me $50 to shoot the dog. So once again he told me I could shoot it for all he cared, so instead I asked if they minded if I got it a new home, the poor little guy hadn't eaten since Sat. when I fed him. They agreed so I posted him on craigslist, and he now has a great home, with a lady that works with abused animals. I was so happy knowing he finally has a caring home. Has anyone ever helped an under dog like this?

That is a wonderfull kind thing you did. Animals can't speak or protect themselves and people should not have them if they are not going to love them and care for them. About a week 1/2 ago I heard this horrible yelping, I looked out in my back yard, front yard didn't see any thing, but kept hearing it. I went outside and on the side of my house there was a tiny little black puppy crawling up on the electric meter, crying for all he was worth. I watered and fed him and than carried him door to door looking for his home. I walked and knocked on every door within a mile radius from my house, no luck. I had doubts on whether I could keep the little guy, because I have a chow/boxer mix and while she is a wonderful loving dog she is very jealous and territorial. I kept the puppy for 3 days in my den blocked off from Baby(my dog),we had tried to introduce her to the puppy several times with no luck. I finally had to take the puppy to the animal shelter, where I thought he would be safe and find a nice family to adopt him, but found at they only give them like 5 days to be adopted and then they can be put to sleep. Not an option! Thank god, while I was there a lady in line Stephanie, who is an animal advocate, took a liking to the little guy and said she would take him. So, thanks to people like you and Stephanie willing to help the underdogs!

I'd like to congratulate you for doing such a great thing, you saved that dog's life! Well, my dad's store adopted a few strays. Nothing spectacular, but they sure are dong better now than when they were roaming the streets.

Part of the reason that I don't have a dog is that I woudn't be able to handle that additonal responsibility. But I would hate for other people to take on pets, yet could not even take care of them! Even the basic need of feeding the poor animal. Your neighbors are horrible.
Good on you to make that good deed!
Never had the chance to help any dog.

oo waw good for you!!
that is such a wonderful deed. it hearts me every time i hear
about animal abuse. how people can be soo cruel.
they are cruel one to another , than animals is "nothing" for them.
i can't realy think right now of a good deed (it's not that i haven't ever done one).
but i am really touched by your deed. wish there were more people like you!!!

Ahhh, this sounds so good, I don't why the owners didn't just find him a new home if they didn't want it...paying you to shoot it? Why didn't they do it? That is just ridiculous. They would pay money to have it shot, but won't pay o feed it a little...so glad it's found a new home now...

OMG... what horrible neighbors you have! Thank goodness that you live next door though so that you could save this poor little doggy. Thanks! There needs to be more people like you in this world. We rescued a kitten about a month ago who was born to a stray cat that lives in the woods out back of our place. We live in an apartment building and 2 other families took in kittens too. There are two left out there in the woods but I doubt if we could catch either of them now as they are very fast since they're growing more now. They are about 10 weeks old now. Sooo adorable too! Here is a photo of mine below the day we got him. His name is Oreo.

That was very good of you. I really hate to see people abuse dogs like that. Dogs are sweet creatures and don't deserve to be treated badly. I don't know why people like that even get dog. I am glad the dog found a new and hopefully much better home. I have found and returned lost dogs before, but I have never done what you have before. I applaud you for what you did.

First off, that was so great of you to find this little guy a new home. Hopefully he will adjust quickly and have a great life with his new owner.
As for your question, I once found a little female puppy during the middle of a snow storm. We took her in, posted flyers, checked with all the kennels/shelters, and watched the newspaper for missing dogs. After 3 weeks of not finding her owners we decided it was time for us to adopt her out. I contacted the local humane society, fostered her while they tried to find her a home, took her to the re-homeing events and eventually found her a great forever home with a couple that had 2 small children. I wish I had been able to keep her but we had just adopted a new dog ourselves and were not ready to take another one in.

You, my friend, are a wonderful person. Thank you so much for helping that poor animal. It makes me feel good about there being kind-hearted people left in the world.
As for what I've done, well... Most of our animals are rescues. We have Mosby, a white mutt we found wandering the street, and Roshi, an orange cat who, when we found him that rainy day as a kitten, was so sick the vet was telling us not to hope for him to live through the night. My two ferrets were adopted from a shelter, and besides the animals we have now, we've had several animals in years past who were rescues. We only wish we had the space and the money to save even more animals!
