Many of us talk on the phone to unknown people. If is a business call,we can not interrupt. Now I finished such a call. My ear is numb.It took exactly...65 minutes Any elegant method I tried to finish,I failed What do you do when a person not finished talking on the phone?

Cip sweetie, i think your ear is going to fall off or something. Kidding. I won't talk that long on any phone. Next time, just say ''excuse me, i really need to go, bye.'' It might sound rude, but it will help that your ear won't be numb next time. TATA.

This person talking about him "I am a great businessman" If I interrupted was worst...he begins with the story from the beginning

If someone ever tells you, ''i am a businessman'' again, just tell them you are the pope's niece. That will make them think twice of telling you such a long boring story.

cip116 that happened to me when I got a phone survey on being a diabetic at lunch time. she kept on asking question after question until I was getting whoozy and knew My blood sugar was going low. I kept interrupting and telling her to wait long enough to let me drink some orange juice and she just kept on asking question after question. my son came in, handed me a glass of orange juice, took the receiver and told her that I was indisposed and call back tomorrow, then he hung up on her.The idea that she did not have enough common sense about diabetes to stop and let me treat my low blood sugar. She never did call back for which I was really grateful, to tell the truth.

Herro cip116 What was the person attempting to accomplish with the phone call? If it is sales, I simply say, "Thank you, I'm not interested" and HANG UP. If it was a friend, I would say, oh gosh, someone is at the door. If they did not hear (it's obvious they had a set agenda) that you said call after Jul 5, ask for supervisor. Or if you are interested in the product, get the company name and call back at a later date. That is my plan for the different types of calls. Prosperous mylotting

i always follow my personal rule that if somebody called me, i will not put down the phone unless that person bids goodbye first..it's a polite gesture that i want to maintain..but from time to time..there are situations that we have to end the call since the conversation is going nowhere..in times like that..i always seek the help of anybody that are available around me..i will wrote a message on a paper for instructions like: "call me loudly on the background and say that somebody is waiting for me outside"..my accomplice should say it out loud enough for the person on the other line to hear, so that the person i am talking to will initiate to end the call..

One time I had an aquaintance that called and had talked for over an hour. I finally rapped on my door and told her I had to go that someone was at my door. It worked!

If I was home and it was a telemarketer or something, I politely thank him or her and say that I am not interested. If that does not work, then I try again. The third time I just hang up on them. If it is someone that I know personally, then I try to be more diplomatic about it and tell them that I really need to go do something, such as housework or taking care of my little one ... saying that you really need to use the "restroom" usually works, too. If I was on a business call where the person kept wanting to talk, I would politely try to wrap up the conversation. If that did not work, then I would tell them that I had other calls to take. If that still did not work, then I would put them on hold for a little while and attend to other work. I would not leave them on hold too long but rather keep checking back and letting them talk for a little in between doing other work. That way, they would be happy, because they could keep talking, and I would still be getting all my work done at the same time.
