What pet has made the most impact on your life?

In my entire life, I have never been without an animal of some sort by my side. I cannot pick a favorite, but I can say that one of my pets has been the most influential, if you could call it that. His name was Elvis, and he was a silver roan mitt ferret. We adopted him from a pet store, though we try not to adopt ferrets from anyone but reputable breeders. We couldn't turn him down, though. It was Christmas time, and he was so tiny, being pushed away from the food by the bigger ferrets... He was so small, he could fit in my palm. That ferret was the love of my life. He was my baby boy, and I will never forget him. He alone may be to blame for my unnatural love of ferrets. He lived to the ripe old age of nine before passing peacefully.
That's my story. How about yours? What pet or animal has had the deepest impact on your life?

It would have to be my Cody who is a Shih Tzu. I have had him for 11 of his 12 years. I saved him from going to the pound eleven years ago. He is my best friend even though I'm female, LOL. He is my protector and will not let anyone get near me if they are threatening in anyway. He is the smartest pet I have ever had. His birthday was just a week ago and he turned 12 which is 84 in human years. I actually put a candle in was of his treats and my granddaughter and I sang Happy Birthday to him. Yes, he is getting old but I will keep him as healthy as possible so I can have him for a while longer.

Elvis sounds so gorgeous - is he the inspiration behind your username too?
We have always had pets too and each of them is incredibly special to me in some way but I once had a female jack russell who really seemed to know exactly what I was thinking. She was so adorable, I used to take her everywhere with me and she was very protective although she eventually accepted my husband :)
She used to love to snuggle into my neck and because she was white but her patches were a similar colouring to my hair, my mum used to say it was hard to tell where I ended and she started lol.
She loved squeaky toys and if she thought that we weren't paying enough attention to her she would go fetch one and sit squeaking it occasionally as if she was joining with our conversation.. (she was most likely telling us what she thought of our conversation).

Yes, Elvis is the one who inspired me to make my online personality Silver Ferret. I use that name for all of my online accounts. He was a doll, really. He used to ride around inside my shirt whie I did my chores, sometimes even falling asleep there!
Your jack russell sounds just like my russell mix. He always seems to know what we're saying, and he responds to what you say with sighs and grumbles at the most amazing times... Animals are just amazing, aren't they?

well it would be a shih tzu also, we bought her after a decade of moving to our current home. There is really a long gap on having one and not having a pet. But because of her we were able to rekindle our love of pets.
well it made an impact on my life because were always eager to get home for our pets.

Oh I am so sorry that he passed away. I know you must have been heartbroken, I was when my labradour passed away, she was 10 and had cancer. I cried continuously for about 3 weeks, so much in fact that I strained my eyes now I need glasses, I can't see long distances anymore:(
She was the love of my life, it has been 3 years since she passed and I have another labbie now, it's a he, but I realise she cannot be replaced, he has a totally different personality all together.
I think of her everyday, especially at night time when I can't sleep, I still cry myself to sleep over her once in every while, I think of her last night she was alive how she wondered off to be alone:(
People say get over it it's only a dog you can get another one But really isn't that simple, they become a part of your family, they don't grief you, they are there for a snuggle always, they bring such joy and comfort to you.
What really upsets me is the wonder if I will ever see her again? I hope there is another life after this one, really I do.:)

My favorite pet has always been a dog.I have a shih tzu,and a black german shepherd mix.I did have two ferrets but my landlord here wouldn't let me keep them.He doesn't want any caged animals here,I'm glad he's a dog lover though.I can't stand not owning one because they keep me great company.they sleep with me at night and lay on my lap.
