I am asking this because I am a loud reader. When I read anything, a book, newspaper or whatever, I just want to say the lines right out loud to the annoyance of those who are around. But I really like it this way so I do my best to read only when I am alone because I do not enjoy silent reading. I love loud reading and acting out the scenes in the story or novel.

I love reading out loud too. It really is fun when you start reading and people actually just pay attention instead of just looking at you weird and telling you to shut up. I have a friend that used to come over, and he would just pick up a book and start reading like he was Sean Connery. It was absolutely hilarious.
One time, my older sister, a friend of ours, and I just sat on the floor for a couple hours listening to him read to us. My mom knocked on the door, opened it, and asked what the heck we were doing. We all shushed her and said, "Sean's reading Treasure Island. We'll be out in another hour!"
Reading out loud is SO fun.

When i was younger, i used to drive my mother nuts because i like to read out loud. I can still hear her saying "Read to yourself". Sometimes what I am reading seems to sink in a little deeper when the words are said outloud. Maybe I just like to hear myself talk. I can't really say for sure, but I still like to read out loud.

Other than causing embarrassment it indicates that what you read will be reinforced twice.Once while reading and then while listening. But because you'd like to live and enact the scenes in the book probably your method is ideal for you.Personally i prefer to be silent when reading.

No. I read quietly and most of the times, I find it annoying when someone starts reading out loud. No offense meant, but maybe I am just that kind of quiet person who keeps my imagination to myself most of the time. :)

I like it when I read a children story book to my young nieces and nephews. I even imitate the most likely sounds of the characters in the book. They were thrilled and wanted me to read another book.
I suppose you are really cute when reading it.

I'm normally a silent reader, but there are times I read aloud, just to practice reading aloud to a public. That's how I enhanced my speaking skills. When I was still in school, a friend said that I spoke well during class. She did not and usually when she recited, some people would snicker because her speech is really not good. I told her to do as I do. Read aloud in front of a mirror. I hope she has continued that practice as I have. Until now, I do that sometimes, because of course we speak with a lot of people. This is especially true for us who are not really native english speakers.

I read outloud only when I am reading to my husband. My husband only likes to read certain books, so other types of books that might not catch his attention long I will read to him, and he find that it helps him with keeping his attention. I don't want him to miss out any good stories just because his mind wanders (Though I find reading out loud my mind will wander and I will start talking about what I am thinking! ).
My husband and I just bought some books at a few thrift stores, and some of the books he picked out are very hefty indeed but are written by one of his favorite video game makers, so he wants to read them. I told him to start and if it gets to be too much I'll read to him.
I don't like to read outloud to be obnoxious, and when I do read out loud it's usually to help me remember something, or to read to my husband, or to call of a list, or something such as that.

Hi Cutie18f
I read out loud only because I can't concentrate on what I am reading, I just use my voice covering the disturbance around me at that moment, or just use it to help me focus on what I am reading.^^

An interesting habit, indeed. Most people read silently for themselves. I remember, when I was a child I used to read to my Granny aloud while she was cooking in the kitchen. Tales, of course. And I read a lot aloud from my favorite book, too, which was about two little school-bears (teddy bears, I mean). It took me half a year to be finished with it. Many years later I read aloud to my Granny again when she was very old and could not read any more. She often fell asleep while I was reading, but curiously, she could repeat the last sentence when she suddenly woke up.
