How do you manage your monthly salary? Do you allocate a certain amount to be spent on the house, or is it a case of buying things as you need?
Who does the household budget management in your house? Is it you or your parent / spouse? Are there any goals for savings set for the month and if so are the goals achieved?

Hi!
I am the budget manager of my house. I don't allocate as such my budget. I spend on essential items, then on luxury items and try to avoid wasteful expenditure. One thing for sure, I put aside some funds for paying electricity, water and milk bills.

Hi mayka,
Earlier it was my parents but now me and my brother is mostly responsible for all this things. I buy grocery etc for my house and we have a shop named D mart here. So everything is available under one roof.
We don't allocate a specific amount for shopping as every month has its own circumstances. Very difficult to predict and also the month we have some festivals cost always more.
Saving is very important and my family has a habbit of buying gold and investing in stocks so both helps.
Cheers,
Tutul

Earlier it was my parents. I never had any idea about the expenses. If I wanted something, I would ask for it. GEt it sometimes or be refused at others. Didn't bother too much with either.
When I was in a hostel, I would get a fixed amount every month and I would try to save as much as possible. Buy things I really needed and save some for little extras.
Now, the bigger budget is managed by my husband but the household management I take care of. We do not set goals for saving because my husband doesn't want to. We tend to buy things as we want....but try to stay away from the extras unless we can afford it at that point of time.

Since I got married, I have been the one to manage our budget. For now, since we are in financial rehabilitation, we don't get to save yet, we spend most of our extra money paying off our debts. Hopefully, when we are able to settle most of our debts, we can be able to save for the future and other investments

We manage our budget by allocating a certain amount to grocery shopping and daily expenses, and sticking to it.
For bills, a nominated amount is put aside into a sub account, which can't be accessed except by use of phone/internet banking. What isn't spent of this money is considered to be our savings.
The rest of the money just sits there waiting to either be used or transfered as more savings.
Managing money can be tricky, but by knowing what your monthly bills are going to be (ideally, set amount/plan), then you are know that amount is what the minimum cost for that bill will be. This goes for all bills.
Over time, you 'learn' what you financial abilities are. The exception to that would be if you have a credit card.
In my household, I'm the one in charge of the finances. My partner gets a set amount to do the shopping with. I take charge of the bills etc.
Oh, and our rent is paid before we recieve money in our account, so we never have to worry about being late with that

I have set up a Excel spreadsheet with all the bills we need to pay. We are able to approximate how much our bills will be and set out that amount. Luckily, we do not have a lot of bills, just the basics: mortgage, power, Internet, home phone (we pay 20.00 a year), and city bill. We just decided to get Direct TV and that bill will be 40.00 a month.
When either of us wants to buy something we ask the other person if it is okay. We make the decison together. I am the one who is more organized and I take care of the budget. I also am the one who balances the checkbook.

Hi Mayka, I do everything concerning the household as there is just myself and my son. I pay all my bills by direct debit on the first of the month and with what is left allocate for food and any extras, I even have a direct debit for monthly savings. To have something left at the end of the month is a goal for me lol Huggles. Ellie :D

I use the Inernet, I pay most bills that way, I use a debit card to manage the rest and I carry only cash to pay what I need to buy in the way of extras. I check my account daily, it's so easy to do and that keeps the expenses in line.

Honestly speaking My spouse is the one who takes care of everything so I really do not have to worry. Even our svaings are taken care by him. All I need to say is I need this much money for expenses and he will give it (provided by justification of course)
