My search is over! In my other discussion 'I'm a fresh grad and I don't want to be a bum!', I stated that I'm having a hard time looking for a job.
Well, I am about to have a temp job luckily in my field of profession. It's going to start this July. The thing is, it's not just some kilometers away from home. It's miiiiiiiiiiiiiles away from home! Just to give you an idea, you have to take a plane with one hour air travel, and I will be with people who have a different native language.
:(
I want to earn already, I want to prove to myself that I can be independent. I want to be of help to my family. I want to start my career. And here comes the BIG BUT... BUT I will be homesick for sure! BUT I will miss my friends, my hangouts, and especially my best friend, who coincidentally, will also be going internationally by September! We won't be able to see each other with surety if I'm already working.
:(
A part of me wants to stay behind, yet the grown up 'Me' wants to go already. I feel torn.

wise men say, 'rafting first-rafts, have fun later ". keep excited, my friend. You have started a preliminary step to become successful. Achieve your dreams. Later you will get everything you desire

Hi Awakeandalive, That is fabtastic news, I know it is far from home and friends but thiswill also give you such a life experience too, my own daughter has just finished university and I am in the UK and at this moment she is in travelling China, Bali and then Maylasia, in her gap year she went to Australia and Fiji and this was by herself as her friends went to Thailand instead, we manageto keep in touch through calls and email and you saidthe job is temporary so you may be back home soon or if itturn permanent friends and family can visit, it will be strange at first but such an opportunity for you. Godd luck. Huggles. Ellie :D

I'm not sure where you are but indeed. It's tough to look for a job nowadays most especially because we are now living in a competitive world. I've lived with my folks for 30 years. I'm a family person and I just started being independent 2 months ago. At the beginning, it was tough. I always think of my family and friends and of course my life there. I missed home. I still do but not as much anymore.
I've learned to adapt in a new environment. Although, I'm still in the process of adjusting and learning things like their language and how they behave. I wanted to know and learn how it's like out there. The "Real world". It's indeed challenging and would take a longer time to be stable. However, there are perks too. You get to meet new people, you get to learn new things and you get to be independent.
I've realized that we cant be kids, teenagers forever. We need to grow. I have to admit until now. I'm still in the process of growing up and becoming a real adult now that I'm away from home.
Good luck! All the best ^^ whatever your plans are. Stay happy ^__^

You say that you will start this July..? In that case, I assume you have already accepted it. :)
First of all, welcome to the real world! (Four years ago, I said, what welcome, I've been in this world long enough to know the world, until a few months later that when I realized that school and work life are totally different worlds.)
You have somewhat described your temp job. You should feel lucky enough to have that opportunity of going somewhere else with a temp job!
Also, homesickness is something that you can deal with, if you are to ask me. We have the internet, we have telecommunications, it is possible to stay connected. It will not be the same, but sometimes it is just how people move forward.
Goodluck with your career. :)

Sometimes we really have to sacrifice some things for us to reach our dreams. Once you're there you will be able to judge if what you want really to achieve your dream or be close to home.
But you should still consider yourself lucky. It will only be an hour plane ride. YOu can visit home easily. For us who are in a different country we can only visit home once or 2x a year and it is very expensive.
