How often do you get up before it is light outside?

This time of the year it gets light around 5am. This morning I took my dog out for a walk around 4:30am. It has rained last night, so it wasn't so muggy, and I wasn't attacked by mosquitos yet. I'm almost always awake before the sun comes up, but I rarely am out of my apartment before daylight. About 7am I'll get out and on with my day. What about you guys? How often do you set out for the day before the sun is up? I imagine some of you have to commute a ways to get to work, or perhaps some of you school?

Wow, you are an early bird, walking your dog at 4:30 AM! Most days I get up at 6:30 AM but will sleep in if I need extra sleep. I rarely get up earlier than that unless I have to or can;t sleep which doesn't happen often.

I would have much preferred to sleep later than 4:30am! LOL Last night it was too difficult to sleep, so my dog got an early walk. HE was happy at least.

I do not go anywhere before daylight ever but I am normally up before daylight most mornings. Some mornings my dog has to go out before daylight and some mornings I have not been to bed yet so I am still up at daylight. It just depends on a few things like insomnia or restlessness and stuff.

Hmmm..the older you get the more strange habits.. - I sometimes say to my friends that I follow the American time, which means I am six hours later than normal people.. When I was working outside home, I used to get up early, and that was no problem, but as I am living on a place where it is daylight around the clock during summer and dark most of the day during winter, the time table in my head has been set to the time when I work on my computer. Sometimes when I watch TV I fall asleep and wake up and remember there was something I would do online - and then sit there and forget about the time. And many in myLot are active when we have night. So, what to do? Either move to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, or start going to bed a bit earlier every night. But I am not going to become normal just yet, maybe later, in the autumn!!

I always get up before sun rise and I have to leave my house before 6 in the morning. I cannot be late than that because I have to drive to college and if I am late for 30 minutes, the traffic will be very hectic. Eventhought my class starts at 2pm, I still have to leave my house at 6am. If not, not even the traffic, I might not able to find a parking space.

I have always kept odd hours. Since leaving school I have worked night shift whether it be at a factory, or, more recently at an after hours emergency vet. I am so used to going to bed just as the sun comes up! I know it's a bad routine to be in and it is kind of inconvenient but it's how I am and I can't get out of the routine. Also, now I am studying online and where I live out in the country the internet is super slow during on-peak time so I stay up late to do my uni work. I guess I am a night owl so the answer to your question is- I am usually already (still) awake when the sun comes up! It is a beautiful time of day though with the air being fresh and crisp and the birds tweeting. The morning symbolises a new day and new beginnings and it can be extremely rejuvenating.

AH my friend, I'm a night person. I would probably answer best if you asked how often I go to bed when it's already light outside LOL That said, there were a few times in my life when I did get up before daylight, but it was always for specific reasons - a trip, a specific task etc. I admire people that get up really early - really early to me is anything after 7:30 am - . My parents used to get very frustrated by my habits of studying late at night and kept telling me that early in the morning my brain would be "fresher" and working better, but I always had this messed up cycle and it is late at night that I feel more energy and want to do everything - including vacuum, which of course I refrain from doing out of respect for the neighbours LOL

For a couple of years I didn't sleep much at all. I'd go to be around 4am and get up around 7am. I always felt like I got so much done in the middle of the night.

I stay up late, but I still need my - at least - 7 hours of sleep. That's why I always do better in a job that starts no earlier than 9 LOL

I don't even remember the last time I got up before the sun came up. Unless of course you count getting up to go potty and then straight back to bed. I am so not a morning person. Even when my son had to get up for school before summer break I did not get put of bed before the sun came up.

I usually wake up at around 6 in the morning. At such time, the sun has risen already. But there are times that I do wake up earlier than usual. On some cases like traveling, or perhaps going on some outing. Sometimes, I also decide to jog and I usually do the jogging early in the morning since the air is still very fresh and not so hot. Well those are the common occasions that I wake up before there is light outside or before the morning has broken.

I am up at about 4 a.m. every day of the week. I know…It sounds crazy but I find it so much easier to do chores early in the morning. I am one of those people who are not much good after lunch let alone in the evenings so I am definitely a morning person! My chores are done by 8.30, I take my daughter to school and either go back to bed for an hour or so or do some work on my writing. That is the best way for me to go through my days!

You had mentioned your daughter's school project. What is her school schedule like? Because here everyone is out for summer except for people who attend year round school.

You know what, I have to get up before the sun rise every single day, whether it is summer time or winter time, I just have to get up around 5:00 A.M. and I have to head out my house before 6:00 a.m. to avoid traffic. That is the requirement from my job, I just to have to get up early.

Well since it is summer time here, the sun generally comes out before I am awake. On a weekday I have my alarm set for 6.30am, which then gives me plenty of time to get up and dressed and get my kids up and ready, but at the weekends I normally get up around 7am, as this is when my toddler likes to wake up. Very rarely at the moment do I get up when it is still dark outside, unless my little one wakes through the night, and I find myself trying to get him back off to sleep, but he does not do that much these days, thankfully. In the winter months though it is a different thing, because our mornings are so much darker, and generally at 6.30am, they sky is till black, and then just goes a really dull grey colour. It makes it a lot harder for me to get myself out of bed I can tell you! I much prefer summer time lol.

I don't usually. It takes something very special for me to get up early enough to see the dark, as I prefer sleeping far too much and only wake up when the sunlight is nicely shinning. The only times I have was when I had early shifts or for other reasons, so really it's not something that I really do. Would be quite interesting to see if anyone else does.

I am a deep sleeper. But, even a small disturbance is enough to wake me up. So, deep sleeper actually means that I a sleeper who goes for deep concentrated sleep. 6 hours of sleep is enough for me. I definitely wake up around 2am to answer nature's call. This is a routine for me. And 6am sharp I am awake. My sleeping time may vary but my waking time is almost always the same everyday, including Sunday.

I usually get up around 7am, but recently I have been getting up around 6am so I can do a bit of writing before the kids get up. I am writing a new book, so I need some peace and quiet to concentrate. As it is the school holidays here in the UK, I have the kids at home all day.
