Where is the right place to publish your poems and stories?

I'm new to Mylot, so hello! I have notebooks fulls of poetry and short stories I have written over the years, and I'm a member of many online writing sites like Helium and Triond, but so far I haven't published much of my own work, I seem to be afraid and only write articles that they need. Does anyone else have this fear of putting their own stuff out there? And if you HAVE put your own stuff out there, where is the best place to do it? What price should I put on my work? Any suggestions would be helpful.
