I think LEa Salonga sang it well, as expected.. She abides by the rules and sang teh anthem beautifully and without a mistake. Christian Bautista sang at the right pace, but forgot a bit of the lyrics..

After hearing a lot of Filipino singer sing our national anthem, I fin Charice's version nicest. I think it is the one closest to the original melody of Lupang Hinirang. Even though I am not a fan of hers, I still liked her rendition. It was sung with pride and dignity, unlike those who sang for Manny Pacquiao, who sounded as if they were in a competition.

I have observed the singers own version of Lupang Hinirang every time Manny Pacquiao has a fight. Every singer have their own version, why cant they just stick to the original one. I think these singers should be more concerned about singing the national anthem and not just because they are singing there to have recognition that they have a beautiful voice. I think they are too conscious about that, they always end up messing up.

I like also the version oh Charice and Leah Salonga. They sang very well. The version of Kyla is also good as she sang the correct version but the problem was her voice.

I haven't heard Kyla's version but I got the chance to hear Charice's and I must say hers is the correct version of Lupang Hinirang. I've also heard that she hasn't received any criticism about her rendition. I guess they're really serious when it comes to the proper tempo of the song.

Well, the Charice's rendition at Pres. N. Aquino's inauguration earned approval from the National Historical Institute, so I guess that's a high honor indeed. Anyway, I've heard many chorales sing the national anthem perfectly, taking note of every forte and piano and whatsit part. I'm usually a purist when it comes to things, but I'm getting tired of NHI's nitpicking.:p

You know, I really don't understand why some filipino singers prefer having their own version of "Lupang Hinirang." I'm thinking, it could be that they cannot sing it well, or it's not their range, that's why they keep on diverting away from the original version. So far, Leah Salonga and Charice's version have been great. I haven't heard Kyla yet. And, I'm not sure if she can really sing it well.
