it causes Buergers disease to get alot worse if you carry on smoking.Well i got imformed last week that i had this disease, aswell as had it confirmed again this week.I can hardly walk as it has caused a problem with the vessels in my toes and it will damage my foot next.Even if i was to give up smoking now it is too late as the damage has been done, but if i give up now it will not effect my foot as much in the future.I am in pain all of the time due to starting smoking.

Now this is making me want to give up smoking so I don't have to go through what you have been through...Do you plan to give up smoking so it doesn't effect your foot as much? I wish you all the best if you do decide to give up - then you can teach me your secret to success

I really do feel for you & being a smoker myself makes me worried that it can happen to me...I have had CN2 which is only a couple of stages away from cervical cancer & have been told that smoking doesn't help this either...maybe we should give up together.

Smoking is associated with a lot of diseases. I never knew that was one of them. I am sorry to hear the damage is done. Are you planning on quitting so you don't have as much pain in the future? You have been misdiagnosed before, so maybe this one will be wrong also.

They said that i had Raynauds and as i had problems with circulation aswell as psratic athritis they thought that the problem was the two combined, not thinking at the time the problem was going to get worse i think maybe. Then it got to the stage where as they got me some boots made thinking that would help, then all of a sudden ulcered toes i had aswell as hardly a pulse to my toes, aswell as them being purple and swollen and red and swollen. They done tests and confirmed Buergers disease, where as the dr thought it maybe Lupus when i went to see him.I am due to have IV on the 12th July and that is from 9am until 5pm every day for 5 days.I think after that is done i may give up smoking as i am in enough pain now and do not want any more pain.

My feet are purple and swollen also. The doctor said the circulation to my feet is good. I don't think so, as along with all the other problems, they are always cold, even in summer.
I know it will be hard to quit smoking, but it will be worth it in the end. Good Luck!

I do so hope you can quit as there are so many benefits to not smoking and some horrid consequences to certain people who do smoke and you've found out the hard way.

All the diseases mentioned by you are not common. I am sorry you are in a situation where any decision is going to harm you. Evenso I sincerely feel that quitting smoking will be the right choice. You are anyway going for IV. I sincerely hope you will come round and lead fairly normal life. Good luck.

Hi Jugs,
I have never even heard of this disease until just now. I will have to look it up. I know that smoking causes all sorts of problems. I am a smoker. I've tried quitting so so many times. I never succeed for long enough. The most I can say is that I have seriously cut back on it. So if you quit now will it stop it from getting worse? I hope they have something that will help you control the pain. good luck jugs.

I am sorry you are experiencing these problems! I urge you to give up smoking so your illness doesn’t get worse! I used to be a heavy smoker but I gave up sixteen years ago. My breathing was affected quite badly whenever I lay down and I’m glad I gave up before it got any worse. I guess you don’t need a lecture on the evils of smoking and you need to deal with your illness. I hope it improves for you and you feel a little better soon. What are the treatments for this?

well I know that smoking is definitely not healthy for you but I did not know that smoking could be linked to this disease. I am sorry that you are in pain from having this disease and I do really help you can stop completely because smoking is not worth all the pain. Also is there no way to ease the pain that you are feeling with an antibiotic or some sort of prescribed painkiller that the doctor can give you?
