having watched the entire avatar cartoon, i was rily looking forward to the movie. i finally got to watch it today and boy was i disappointed. first of all the acting of most of the cast is mediocre at best. then the director was not intune with the entire avatar theme. there was no humor at all and it was just so dull. i hope the other chapters of the movie will be better coz at this rate, no one will bother even going to the movies to watch them. what a shame.

I totally disagree The Last Airbender was not a bad movie I thought it was good. The critics lie what were you expecting mr. Thogo. You were looking for humor it had moments of levity but the theme was change from frivolity to semi serious and I thought that was good. I cat understand why so many people thought it was bad. Where we looking at the same movie. I had not seen the cartoon until after I saw the movie but standing on its own I thought it did a good job and I will tell anyone who listens.
How many viewers and listeners agree with me?

maybe because you had not watched the cartoon. most of the people who were waiting for the movie were fans of the cartoon. try this mr Baruti, forget you watched the movie then watch the cartoon. you'll be pleasantly shocked by the cartoon.

I was also disappointed in the movie... but I think it's weak points were in the writing of the script and the editing. I thought all the actors did really well with the material that they had. (Except Zhao. I never believed him!) The problem was in the script. It was so poorly done. Why is it that Aang doesn't introduce himself until they get to the Southern Air Temple? Why does Zhao need to reiterate several times that he found something out in the all-mysterious library? Why is it that Katara is introducing herself to Zuko when he comes to attack her? The other problems like lack of character development, rushed story, and lack of humor all come from problems with the original script.
Then there's the editing, which I think was even worse than the script writing. It was so choppy! It was almost like they'd planned for a much longer movie and then at the last minute someone yanked huge sections out.
I was disappointed, but unlike most of the fans I'm not going to act like the movie has personally offended me by being less than I hoped for. It stinks... but it's just a movie. The original TV series is not ruined because of it.
