I seldom take medicine when I caught a cold,as it seems it took the same time to recover no matter you took pills or not.So I just let the body get well naturally.More and more parents around me tend to take their childs to the big hospitals to get a liquid transfusion for several days even it's only a minor illness.I don't think this is a good way, because our own immune system can deal with the minor ones themselves.
What about you mylotters?Do you like take medicine or go to hospital?

I guess I'm lucky. I'm never sick. I haven't had a cold or the flue in 14 years. Last time I was sick, I took medicine to bring my fever down and to make me feel better.

It's hand washing. It keeps me healthy.
I always wash my hands when I come home.
I always wash or use sanitizer or both before I eat.
I always wash my hands after using the bathroom. In public bathrooms, I don't touch the bathroom handles or knobs with my clean hands.
I don't wear outside shoes in the house.
I never touch any body opening when I'm outside of the house. Body openings are eyes, mouth, nose, private areas. Well, not putting hands on private areas in public is obviously a no no, but people constantly touch their eyes mouth and nose, introducing germs to their body.
It might sound as if I'm OCD, but my doctor says I'm not. He said I just have good hygiene.
OCD ~~~ Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It's a mental illness listed in the DSM-V.

Hello ann. I take medicine if I find myself catching a cold. Usually my symptom is headache. If I don't take medicine, it will only get worse. I don't like to go to the hospital, but I always prepare some medicine at home in case I have a headache or cold. Take care, ann.

I don't catch colds. I prefer to use herbal remedies and vitamins and if I feel the slightest symptom coming on I take preventative measures.

I had enough problems with my health long time ago and that's why I'm getting sicker if I should go to a hospital now. I hate hospitals and taking pills because I took too much pills in the past with almost no use. For two years I no longer go to the doctor and pray to God not to need to do it again if something very serious happen to my health. I became almost totally a supporter of natural treatments. Almost all my former medication did some harm to my liver. Generally all synthetic pills treat symptoms and not the root of the disease. I'm of the opinion that a key factor for a good health is to balance our immune system by using natural treatments and healthy food. Avoid stress and sedentary life are also very important.

Nearly every chemical medicine has side-effect.Our body has its own ability to deal with the little illness, but when we break the balance of our body such as bad habits, over tired, not sleep well or other reasons, then we'll get sick.
There is a joke about the medicine,a boy asked his mother"How does the medicine know where to go?"Yes,the medicine cannot know which caused our illness or the root. You have make a wise decision to turn to a regular life and devote sincere love to the god, maybe you can do some exercises too.Hope you will get well soon.

No I just rest, get enough sleep and drink plenty of liquids especially fruit juices. I don't want my kidneys and liver to carry more toxins. Sometimes I drink herbal teas. I believe teas are far more better than scientific medicines.

No, I dont usually take medicine. I just drink lots of water, rest and have some ointment press on my head, my nose and my abdomen. If is too much I see my doctor and buy the medicine given.

It's my understanding from a doctor friend that our bodies have the natural ability to heal themselves. I think medicine just messes things up, so I do not take medicine.

Hi, ann
I do not like taking medicines too. When I have a cold, I would just drink a lot of water. To ensure that I would be able to do this, I carry around a water bottle and refill it several times a day. I also take a lot of sodium ascorbate or ascorbic acid.
Have a nice day!

I get wary whenever I get colds. I don't like its feeling. When I was a kid, my Mom would give me cold syrups but then, it only gives temporary relief which I didn't like because I hated medicinal syrups.
Then, as I grew older, my Mom would still insist on me taking syrups whenever I develop a cold or cough. I just ignore her which sometimes gets me into trouble with her.LOL.
My doctor told me that it is not necessary to take medicines when a cold occurs. Drink plenty of fluid is the best solution since most colds are viral, they will just go after a few days. Same with cough. It will just go after a couple of days without even taking any medicine.

When I catch cold, I prefer to wait for a day or two for it to go away on its alone, then I start taking steam. But in case it persists then I take mild dose of medicine as strong medicine turns simple cold problem into sinus problem. In that case I have to go to the doctor and start course of antibiotics.

Taking medicines is good enough since if u take medicine early then no need to go to hospital.Whereas if u fail to take any medicine then it will lead the way to hospital.Better take immediate steps to avoid future problems.Cold will stick to lungs and it will cause respiratory problems if we fail to attend immediately so my sincere advice is that go for medicines at the early stage itself.
Tks for the article.

I try not to give my children or myself medicine. I have to take medicine every day for depression and bi-polar but other then that I pretty much never take anything. I rarely get headaches. When I do I wait until night time then I go to bed and when I wake up in the morning its gone. If I have a cold I dont take cold medication. I was going out the one night and didnt want to be coughing all over the place so for the first time in many many years I bought cough and cold medicine and took it. The cough hung on for a few weeks it sucked.

My husband's best friend also take expensive medicine for depression, but we all think a well regulated life and work will do better to the depression because he has stopped to work for many years. But as we don't have the disease so we can only suggest but don't know whether a work can be really much better to him.

i never like to take medicine, nor do i like to go to a hospital. It is very sad to go to a hospital. It automatically brings the feeling that you are sick, even though it is not a major sickness. Cold is not something major. But we do need to take some precautions. I drink a lot of warm water when i catch cold. So it helps me to cure my disease a little faster. Please try this. Drinking warm water really helps.

When I first took my baby to the hospital, there were so many babies in the waiting room, and I was wondered whether my baby would be infected by them and geing worse,as I have seen a healthy boy came with his mother(who maybe come to see a patient)running in the waiting room then he got ill the second day.
I usually drink cool boiled water, next time I'll try the warm water.

Hello Ann101,
With reference to your main question - I dont easily take medicine when I got a colds. Most of the time, I try to take 8 to 10 glasses of water and make a water therapy treatment to cure my colds. And, I am not used to go to hospital either. As much as possible, I dont want to go to the hospital. I want to avoid going on to hospital now a days because since my childhood days, I used to be here even for a small reason.

It depends. Sometimes I'll take something for the sinous headaches some colds cause. Other than that I don't usually take anything. While nature must run its course, I have to take care of myself. A headach can many things for me, so I have to squash them, because I don't really want to die. Which I could if too much preasure builds in my already-damaged brain.

Well no, I never take medicines or see doctors for just normal cold and cough. According to me, taking medicines so easily makes our immune system weak and our body becomes completely dependent on medicines. So I dont take medicines until my condition becomes a bit serious.

You are right,a child of my relatives have used to go the hospitals even it's only a little cold, then whatever cold or cough or fever,he has to take liquid infusions in the hospital and common pills have nothing to do with him.Maybe his body has been dependent on the expensive ones.

when I have colds and if it is manageable I just drink lots of water. If it will show after 3 days, that is the time for me to take a medicine but I only take it during the night when I am about to sleep.
It would be a big disturb during the day because I become drowsy unlike during the night, it will be a goodnight sleep for me as well.
