Hello there mylotters... For you, what is happiness? In the dictionary, Happiness imply an active or passive state of pleasure or pleasurable satisfaction. For me, I can't really describe what is Happiness. Sometimes I'm not sure if what I'm feeling is happiness, excitement and etc. I just smile then that's it.. *blank* Sometimes, what I'm doing is not pleasurable but I smile and say I'm happy, which actually contradicts that definition from the dictionary. So, How about you? What is Happiness?? Have a nice day to all!

Well, i will define happiness as, the sense of warmth that begins at the core of the soul, spreads to the heart, and radiates outward from the eyes and lips of those who know it. The gift of happiness is elusive, but tangible. You cannot seek to find that which makes you happy for happiness comes from within and by your own choice. Honestly, many people would cite heath as art of their definition of happiness , as in "health, wealth, and happiness'. But only very few people mentioned health.

hi there llbo1981.. Indeed, happiness is a feeling. I'm glad that you're happy when you don't have someone whom you hate. And it's a very wonderful like to live without any enemies and all of you love each other. As for the little money, yes it is. You can be happy with that but if you ask secular and practical persons, they would prefer money more than social relationships. Have a nice day!

I am not sure what happiness really is... I know I don't feel it to often. I guess sometimes I feel happy when I am spending time with my kids and when my husband and I have our date nights... =)

Happiness is the reason why people continue to live. They strived everyday just to attain their inner goal and I guess for me that's happiness. We lived day by day because we wanted to gain something -promotion from work, buy a car, good grades, earn a living. All of these things have one ending and that is to obtain happiness. But people are too busy achieving these material things. They tend to forget that the true meaning of happiness is can't be provided by visible things.

Oh, happiness is something you cannot describe... there is not definition for that feeling, for that word, this is something that less people every day find out what is this. This is really awful that a lot of people cannot feel the happiness but what I can tell about it is that when you are happy you feel it deep down in yourself you feel it and it makes you HAPPY, happiness, can't describe it :D gotta feel it

Happiness is the state of mind when you are satisfied with your work ,family or your surroundings.I feel happy even with small things like the flowers blooming in the gardenor any other natural element around.Ofcourse when our kids achieve we feel ourselves at the pinnacle of happiness. So every person is sure to feel happy at some time or the other.

Passive state of pleasure works for me! Happiness is contentment and describing it as a passive state reinforces the fact that nothing needs to take place for happiness to occur.

hello fheroan! for me, happiness has many faces or meanings. Happiness could be finding power and strength within yourself. it is to look for something within yourself before looking for it elsewhere. Happiness is not always doing what you do but wanting what you do. As mere human beings, we don't have total control over our life and sometimes we cannot do what we want. If we based our happiness in always doing what we want then there would be times that indeed we won't be happy but if we learn to want what we do, then we would always find happiness within our reach. Happiness is also wanting the well-being of others. This doesn't mean however that you have to sacrifice yourself for another to the point of forgetting yourself, but rather giving the person the possibility of loving himself. Happiness also is to love and to be loved. for me, this is the truest form of happiness in this world of mortals.

Hi fheroan, well happiness is something that I think we feel as long as we are content with our life at that certain particular moment in life. Because most of the time we are not experiencing happiness are the times that we are actually ranting about every little things that happens in life. To tell you the truth, I think that the animals would experience happiness more easily than us. Because we are just a plainly pathetic animal who likes to complicate things with all our 'cleverness'. For instance there is even definition for love or happy in the dictionary.. I mean come on, those are just feelings, no offense though..

Well Happiness means strength.Happiness comes only when we are comfortable and understands the situation in other way one will feel that they have done their work with heart & soul. For me happiness is that what we think about,if we are comfortable we can think that happiness is there otherwise not.Positive thinking is also one main thing in happiness. We should speak out from our HEART Rather than from our MIND.Heart is the place where LOVE will be there whereas in MIND only justificcation will be there. Tks for the article.please do keep posting. :)

Hi fheroan,I'm so glad. This is my first time to express my opinion here cuz I'm really a green hand at doing this. As for me, happiness is one of the human feelings. But I think most of all like to pursure it.When I can do what I wanna do,I feel happy. When I needn't do what I hate to do,I feel so.So i think happiness is coming when something goes like they just follow your heart~

I think happiness is just a contrary definition of pain,it means a pain has disappeared. So,the essential question is,what kinds of pain we have got.And then we can decide what kinds of happiness we could possiblely gain, just by getting rid of the corresponding pain. In order to reduce pains,it needs wisdom in spirituality. So,happiness depends on improvement of our intelligence.

Happiness is subjective and it will vary from person to person. To me seeing rising sun in the morning and watching stars at night gives me happiness and seeing my flowers bloom brighten ups my day. It may not be same for others.

i guess, happiness is really based on contentment... no matter how much you do have but no contentment at all, you'll never appreciate the things around you...

Hi, Happiness, in my opinion is a state of inner satisfaction. It often works independently to the external factors. You can choose to be happy no matter what situation you are in. This can be achieved through some logical sequence of optimistic deduction. There is a subtle difference between pleasure and happiness. Pleasure is not permanent. It is a sudden surge of excitement, a somewhat dumb feeling of joy. A pleasure doesn't necessary involves any realization. Another very important characteristic of pleasure is that, instead of satisfying the person, it often leaves the person more dissatisfied. A person who wants to taste pleasure will want it more once his needs are satisfied. Pleasure is fleeting, whereas happiness is permanent and comes only after a positive realization about life. Happiness is more related to peace and sanity. When you don't enjoy doing something, you can't feel happy. When you are doing something just because you want to achieve something out of it (that may be money, or power or anything of that sort) you may get pleasure by doing it. But when you are doing the job just because it makes you feel good, and while doing the job you are not thinking about achieving any particular thing, it inevitably brings you happiness. Sometimes we EXPECT happiness from something, or, someone. There we forget that expectations and happiness can't go together. They are like opposite poles and only one of them can stay in your mind. Happiness comes from minimizing your expectations, not inflating them. Thanks. God bless you

Happiness means being satisfied with what ever you have. Sharing and caring and loving everyone without any expectation. Happiness is in... Loving everyone like you have never been hurt, Singing like no one is listening, Dancing like no one is seeing, Living like its your last day on the planet.

For me happiness comes when you see that the one that you love is happy. When your love ones are just around there willing to support you. When you don't being judged by who you are and what you have been. Maybe it won't make you smile but your heart will smile. There are just different levels of happiness, maybe some people experienced already to be happy extremely but for others they find happiness on shallow things. And it also depends on how people will accept happiness. Some people are not contented of what they have and some people finds contentment on small things which can make them happy easier. But on whatever it is, all those things just depends on us, on how we accept things and make it lighter or finds happiness first inside our heart.
