Just the start of this July, i was shocked of what my friend told me, he was at an internet cafe and then after one hour he left to go home, while on the walk home, he was held by a man and said to him "do not move or you will lay down bleeding, give me your mobile phone and your wallet", he thought that was the end of him, he then handed it off, then the man said "stay still" and then ran off. I know, it was traumatizing for him but he was more thankful that his life wasn't taken too. I don't wanna be in a situation like this, and i know, no one does, but still what if you were him, what would you do? would you hand it over not sure that the man won't kill you either or would you rather give a fight thinking that at least you fight till then of your life? For me, i would give the material thing away too, its just thing, I know that God will save me. How about you then?

Well for me i am from the school of hard knocks so when someone tell me not to not move i may move quickly and rush that person in a split second. If i am going to go out like that, i am going out like a G. or soidger, not no wimp or punk!

I've always thought that I'd end up being like, "What?" and turn around. So I'd probably get stabbed. Someone tells you not to turn around the first thing you want to do is turn around. Someone says "don't look" so everyone wants to look. So if someone comes up behind me and says something the first thing I'm going to do is turn around really fast. I'm usually pretty aware of my surroundings though, surprising me is not a good option. I almost punched my brother in the face once because he knocked on my apartment door, then hide on the side and as I opened the door (after looking through the peephole) he popped out and I almost hit him, I had to stop myself. lol

Hi, topetotz. This is very scary. I am glad that your friend is okay! I have never been in an situation like this before! I am glad that your friend was not hurt nor killed in this process! I would have given up my wallet if I was in this situation. I would not take any chances trying to put up a fight with this assailant. We all have to be very careful these days. People are dangerous!

That is terrible!! I don't understand why people do awful things like that at all in this world today!! I really don't know what I would do besides give the person my belongings and pray! pray! pray! and run as fast as I could!! Belongings can be replaced but your life can't. Hope it never happens to me or anyone else at that matter and I am sorry to hear about your friend and hope they are doing okay. Have a good day!

I've never been in a situation like that and I freeze when I see big roaches or even little spiders lol But I've been training myself in self defense basics and knife handling/fighting basics. I always have a good sized pocket knife in my purse (where my wallet is) and could pretend to reach for the wallet and grab the knife. But it depends on where the person is. Obviously if they are behind me I have no idea how tall they are, or if they really have a weapon and I can't get to them without risking myself. So, I'd probably give them my wallet. It would suck to lose my id and SS card but those are replaceable. I have no money so they wouldn't get anything and my bank card has no money and I would immediately call the bank after the police so that isn't a big deal. If I had cash I would slide it out into my purse while getting my wallet out, my walled it pretty simple. Other than that all they would get is a card for 10% off their next Hot Topic purchase, a free Pecan Bun at Cinnabun on their next trip to Cinnabun, a build a bear card, library card, my ids with my horrible picture (it would give me an excuse to get a new picture!), a bank card with no money, an atm card where you have to have my pin anyway, and theres no money in there either, Pet Smart card, my online ordination certificate, my pharmacy technician certification card, some change, and thats it. lol I don't know what they would do with it. As long as they don't take my purse (I loooove my purses) then we are cool. I'd hand them my makeup bag and hope they thought it was my wallet and run off. I don't keep the good makeup in there anyway... lol so basically if someone did that to me and if I did hand off my stuff they wouldn't get anything of value and would be pissed, but I would be more pissed and as soon as I heard them leaving I'd probably try to chase them down and stab them. I'm pretty evil. I have run outside with my sword or hunting knife a few times because I've heard kids by my apartment windows (messing around or whatever they are doing) and had to scare them off. So yeah, its hard to say for sure what I would do, but I really don't have much so I wouldn't lose much. But if I was given an opening I'd stab the robber then call the cops.

Oh my God that is definitely scary. I have a girl friend who also had been in that situation. They even had a tag-of-war with her bag. She was already near her dormitory when it happened. Imagine there even at the ground fighting over her bag. It was a good thing she was not hurt by those men. I think somebody passed by so the commotion stopped and they ran off with a motorcycle. She went to the police station after and she was even interviewed on TV. When she saw the report the next day when it was aired on TV she cried so hard. Her dorm mates asked her why? They said you were traumatized and only realized it now? She answered no it was not that. She said she was crying because she saw herself on TV very dirty, unruly hair, with mascara and eyeliner all over her face. She even said I can't be on TV looking like that. Duh!!! When she told me that with her dorm mates we rolled our eyes and i hit her with my bag. Hello she might have hurt herself seriously and she was only concerned with the way she looked on TV. If I would be in her situation I think I wouldn't make it difficult for the hold-upper. I'll just hand them my bag and won't look at them. What's inside my bag are not really worth it compared to my life. That is also one of the reasons why I don't own expensive cell phones or why I don't put all my cash in my wallet. So that if they would grab my bag they won't really have something valuable.

My partner's son had a similar experience when about to leave a quiet train in London. The thing is, you don't know whether they guy has a knife or not- and if he pulls one it may just be too late. I used to work retail security, and have been threatened with dirty needles and all sorts. You don't even know whether they might knife yoy after you have given over your wallet/ phone anyway!
