Ever Dyed Your Hair?

I'm new to the whole "starting a discussion" thing, so if this is in the totally wrong category I apologise heartily. So I recently (read: last night) dyed my hair. It was an off the cusp decision really. I had the dye for a good year or so, and when my friend and I saw Hair Bleach in a ship she mentioned how she wanted to dye her hair. So we bought the bleach and she bought green hair dye. Headed back to her house later that night after seeing a movie, and together with a big group of friends (by big I mean....six :P), the two of us dyed our hair. Have to say, I was surprised. Turned out bright electric blue rather than the midnight blue I was looking for, but my friend (I shall call her Greeny) did a fairly awesome job on my hair. Alas, Greeny's hair didn't turn out so well, mainly because I'm crap at this sort of thing. With the over long-winded setup in place, have any of you ever considered dying your hair? Or have you dyed it before? If the latter, what colour did you do and were you happy with the result? If the former, and you've never actually done it, what colour would you like to dye your hair?

No I haven't dyed my hair , and have no plans for it in the future. Make sure you use the dye product that do not harm your in the long run .

Yeah, that's the problem. I'm torn between having my hair blue (which I like) or protecting it. I tend to try and make one dye job last as long as possible so that I do as little damage as possible.

I have dyed my hair before and I have bleached them too. But after seeing how they could damage my hair, I have stopped doing so. Those times that I have dye them, I make them maroon in color.

Yeah, dye is usually okay for your hair, but peroxide will ruin it if you aren't careful. I'm still worried my hair will fall out at some point, but I think I'm okay. I don't plan on doing this too often, but if my hair goes grey early I'll take advantage of the lighter and easier to dye colour to save my hair from peroxide.

I dye my hair every 2 months and I think it is a good idea for women whose hair is starting to turn grey as it is in my case. My hair started to turn grey very early, when I was 20, so you can imagine how often I have dyed my hair till now ;) I had only once had my hair dyed by a professional hairdresser. I think it is cheaper to do it alone at home. At first my boyfriend helped me but now I do it on my own. I do not have my favourite brand or colour, I just choose a colour similar to mine. I am always satisfied with the result but it does not last long and I have to repeat it every two months.

I've been warned that my hair will be grey by the time I reach 25, so I'm well prepared to have to dye my hair regularly. It would be a nice way to save money on the bleach! And yeah, I got a fairly awesome result for less than a fifth what a professional would charge. For simple highlights (and they don't even have blue anywhere I went) it's almost 100 euro. I had my friend Greeny do my hair, not just highlights either but all of it, for twenty euro.

I have black hair as well, but I found that Hair Bleach (hydrogen peroxide, not just blonde dye) is amazing. Leave it in after thoroughly mixing it in your hair. Usually a box will say something like "Dark Brown Hair: 20 minutes minimum". Just have it in four a half hour, and then check every ten minutes after that. It was in my hair for about forty minutes and my hair was white and gold. After that you can put any colour into it. Make sure your dye is compatible with Peroxide, or it'll come out a different colour.

I've never dyed my hair, but I did consider it once. Unfortunately, my stylist said it would be nearly impossible to get my (very dark) hair to be the color that I wanted. Now, however, I'm glad I didn't dye it. I like my natural color a lot, especially when it's in the sunlight! It has these reddish highlights in the dark brown that only show up in the sun. Everyone tells me my hair is beautiful, so I'm happy with it!

A stylist told me I'd never be able to get the colour I wanted, but it worked out even better! I was told my black hair was too dark for even bleach to work, but it worked amazingly, in between the dye and the bleach my hair was gold and white. I actually prefer the blue I have to my natural, though it would be better if it was a little darker...
