Hi friends, I got an email today which mentioned that the person who is saying bye to all on his last day this Friday has served the company for 27 years and has been asked to go because parent company being bought by another company in similar business. There are others whom I do not know by any way, mail phone or personally so no idea as to how many years they served this company but knowing about this man who is around 55 years of age. He was talking on the floor to all and saying something that was very emotional, he said that this company is like second home for him as he served for so long. When he will wake up next Monday morning, his mind will be empty and full of emotions because he loved this place for 27 years and achieved some goals of his life. I believe that It would not be easy for him to star again. I pray that it does not happen with anyone in this world. I cannot imagine this to happen with me or anyone around me, would be scary. Did you know anyone who got into this situation? Do you think this guy will get anbother job at this age?

Hi AjaySinghBaghel, It isn't easy to find another job at age 55 but there are those who do. Sometimes companies are looking for people with experience. The big drawback of course is that he doesn't have a lot of years to offer a new company but let's hope he will find something. Blessings.

The only problem is his age and that might cause a compromise on salary and the position he might be offered. Hope he will get a good position and salary paying job soon. Thank You For sharing.

Sad story indeed. If he can get another job or not depends highly on his skills I think. If he is very skilled with a lot of knowledge that others lack where he lives, he has a chance, but otherwise it will probably be hard. Poor guy, I wish him all the best!

I really feel for him. I can not imagine what i would do if i were in his situation. It is not easy for everyone to find job which suits self, especially for the middle-aged without any skill.Anyway, life is tough, but still i believe there is always some hope. I can give him two personal suggestions, one is to find another job which might offer lower pay;the other is to be his own boss. So,we,the adults, should learn some lesson from his matter. If we do not work hard or master a skill, then his today might be our 'tomorrow. At last, may the best wish for him, good luck!

Hi, This is terrible news and I wish this guy the best for the future. I really do feel for him. Although as unfortunate (And illegal) it is, he will have a hard time finding another job. Most places will just turn him away due to his age, which is illegal, so they will obviously give another reason such as over qualified. I wish him all the best job hunting, otherwise enjoy an early retirement? Lee.

I think not all people have opportunity to enjoy early retirement but this would be a forcefull retirement, he might not have enough money to support his family needs, childrens education or other things. Thank You for sharing.

At that age, it will be hard for him to find another job. But he can be his own boss. He can start his own business. I hope he got some severance pay from the company so he can use it to start a business. I tell you, he will never regret it once he feels the freedom and the power you gain when you are on your own. Tell him to start small and make the business grow. There is always the bright side at the end of the rainbow. Advise him not to go around looking for a job. No, advise your friend to start thinking of a business that the area needs. He will surely not regret it.
