Drawbacks of the internet? Maybe we should think again?

There are countless benefits of the internet. But have we considered its bad effects? For me the greatest drawback of the internet is 'information overload' on the users. We can learn everything or almost everything by just using the internet and for me that is not how it should be. People are becoming lazy and is forgetting to live the way we used to live. We spend hours and hours infront of our computers reading this and that. We are forgetting how to enjoy life as we should because we are so tied up on the internet. But it is so hard now to turn away from the technology especially if you live in the city. But it's yet too late to turn back. Or is it?

the 2 drawbacks I could think of are the gradual lost of actual face to face communications and internet as an easier medium to fool other people.with the advent of facebook and chatrooms,a lot of people are getting into cyber friendships or relationships that doesn't go beyond the chat room.while it is good to have friends online, nothing beats meeting a friend in person and doing activities together in the real world.that way,you will really get to know the person.a lot of people create online scams that does nothing but steal money.

I love the internet, and also have a in-depth social life. For some people the internet is there social life, because they might be very unattractive or get very nervous face to face with other people. On the internet they can be as open and free as they like from the privacy of there own home.

An unattractive face shouldn't hinder socializing with other people, but most of the time it does, sad as it may be. But they only need to be confident enough to face the real world so they can enjoy what it really feels like socializing (not just virtual).

You are right my friend. People have now become addicted to the internet. We all have become used to being on the internet for more hours. It is not good to sit in front of the computer for hours. It has lot of bad effects on health. We all have become very lazy and we are always reading stuff on the internet rather than using that stuff in practical life. That's very bad. People in urban areas are always found surfing online. They are online 24 hours. Its like they are not living physically but virtually.

there are many good things that internet has brought us but with that, there are also bad things. some tend to be lazy and some u it to destroy others. it is up to us which one we will choose. we have our will and judgment to choose which we think should be done. i just hope that many of us are responsible users of this good gift to use for progress rather than for destruction.

I think that the most previlent drawback regarding the internet is a social one. People are becoming so addicted to Facebook and Twitter that they're neglecting to develope and nurture their social skills in real life, face-to-face settings.
Technology is a wonderful tool for staying in touch, sure; but when it becomes a person's only social outlet, it is having a detrimental effect.
