Have you ever hated a certain song the first time or first few times that you heard it? Or probably just found it less interesting, or just not your type?
And then when it suddenly became popular OR old, you found yourself humming to the tune, later on downloading it over Limewire? (or whatever) And what do you know? It's become one of your favorites!
As for me though, it took decades before I started to like Bon Jovi songs. I've always been anti-rock, but some actually caught up. Not really my faves but now they sound ok to me.

Hi there Theresa Aiza!
Yes, there are songs that I don't like the first time I hear it but will somehow learn or just happen that I like it after I heard it play for a few times. One example would be Lady Gaga's "Poker Face". Maybe because the style is new and I first heard it on the radio so I haven't seen the video yet at that time but later on, after I heard it played on parties, I liked it. Not one of my favorite songs but it isn't as unlikeable as what I thought of it before.

The first time I heard Michael Jackson's songs were at a party for kids. The music was so loud and the din was too much for me to appreciate him and I was so prejudiced that whenever anyone talked about him I wondered what was so special about him but by and by I have begun to like him and miss no opportunity to watch his videos too!!

They still sound rather silly to me. Hoepfully I would grow to love them. Or wait another decade perhaps?

yeah sometimes music grows on me. But then i think back and wonder why i hated it at first anyway. What kinda bugs me is when i hear a song playing on the radio, or somewhere and i listen as closely as i can but i cant figure out the name of it. I recently downloaded an iphone app called shazam, which can identify songs if you are within range, pretty cool.

There are modern reggae compositions that sound nice. The kind which you can listen to when you're dreaming of a vacation somewhere in the Tropics!

hi theresaaiz oh yes when I w as younger there were a lot of the beatles songs that unlike others my age I did not particularly love but as I have retired I have co me to really love a lot of their songs. I am not much into modern music, I like jazz and the blues, and U2 but love classical music the most.

I still couldn't appreciate the Beatles that much. I wasn't born yet when they were the craze. But I gotta have to give them credit for such a phenomenal popularity during their time.

I think there are a lot that I don't like and even not wanted to listen but I think life is like that, you got to learn to like and love them as time passes by. With being anti rock, this just depends on the artist because there are also rock music that I like and I have it downloaded. But what fascinates me now is the mellow songs and love songs in which before I hated and now looking to hear them often.
Weird huh..!!

Tides turn, desert sand dunes shift, day turns into night....change is always constant. So I don't find that too weird. Our interests just become either more flexible or more rigid. Hope not the latter.

Hello Theresa,
wow are you kidding? Bon Jovi's one of the best singers of all time. i guess each has a different taste of music. what was your favorite music then? i missed the old songs, not because i got tired of the remakes but because they were the ORIGINAL one, you don't see these good songs no more as the singers retire or die as they grow old.all i hear now is a bunch of stupid remakes

Hi LK, we're the same on that one about remakes. Some remakes are great but sometimes they just couldn't surpass the original one. I think the only time I really appreciated a remake was that of Mandy Moore's rendition of Rihanna's "Umbrella". Sure not everyone liked it but I did. Mandy's one of my faves. Pardon me. I'm also just a girl!
And oh, LeAnn Rhimes' too for "how do I live". I think she did even better.
Girls usually don't dig rock music. I guess that's why Bon Jovi was never in my list.

I have to say that there are some songs I just cannot relate to no matter how hard I've tried. I thought it's just me. But not exactly when a few friends do share the same sentiment. Recently I've been hearing lots of hip hop at home. The craze with my kids. And honestly I'm beginning to like them.

I used to be very biased about hiphop, R&B, reggae, even disco pop. I've always seen myself as a conservative, mellow-music, classical person. There are genres of music that just don't appeal to me but some have actually garnered my appreciation. Some still suck though and that couldn't change my impression about them. Now I have learned that it doesn't hurt to be a little flexible.
