well for the patient not to get embarrassed. its like somebody seeing them strip which is weird for the patient. Even if they will see you naked any way but only some part and not the whole. Which is a lot of a difference.
but i think personally its the act of getting naked that make it embarrasing.

I always wondered about this too. However, I think for a doctor to see someone getting undress might be a bit to sexy. The act of taking off the clothes may be enticing to some people. I also think most people would feel uncomfortable taking their clothes off in front of anyone beside their husband or boyfriend. It just wouldn't feel right when you think about it.

Well according to me doctors leave the room when we are changing because they have no intentions to see us naked. Its only their job that make them see us naked, but thats a different thing. They cant operate upon us with our clothes on but that doesn't mean they get the liberty to see us naked all the time and they understand it. So they leave us when we are changing.

HI
When a patient is changing, the relationship of patient - doctor is not established and normal human behavior is appropriate. The moment doctor-patient relationship is establishes, the patient is just a subject for doctor not a human being. Doctor can not operate on human being they operate only on subject, leaving their all emotions/feelings away. Keeping emotions feeling away when patient-doctor relationship is not established may not be possible for doctor. This may be the reason.

Personally, I think there is a difference between watching a person undress in front of you and just doing the procedure with a naked person. Besides, he can not do anything while you're undressing and it just might make the patient uneasy if somebody's watching while they're taking out their clothes.
Moreso, I think it is a sign of respect to allow a person to do a personal thing on their own than be there waiting, or pretending that you are not there by looking elsewhere.
