I was out at a local shopping mall today to check out some stuff at the stores. I was with a friend of mine and we were chatting away while walking and making idle conversation. i’m usually aware of my surroundings, but this time the glass door crept up in front of me and I smacked my face against it without even realizing it was there in the first place.. *ouch.
And of course I took a little tumble and fell... bloomin glass door, couldn’t they at least put up some stickers or something at eye-level?
But the damage to my ego was already done. It was such an embarrassing situation and lucky for my quick wit and gift of the gab, I was able to make light out of the situation in the normal comedic way that is Mario.. at times like those I sometimes wish that I could go invisible for a while until the laughter dies down..
What if it was you? How would you recover from an embarrassing situation like walking right into a glass door? Or if your skirt or pants got caught on a loose nail by the wall..or a similarly embarrassing situation?
It happened a couple of weeks back, and it happened again today…I hope I wouldn’t do something like that again next week

(whispers too..) there's this big intergalactic organization that's going all out to capture Captain Obvious. it must have obviously been something that she did. and now they've traced her to you... and they're even after me too, because i figured out their secret evil plot. that two minutes i spent studying those dastardly fiends was really educational..
and now they are doing all this to humiliate us into submission! (OOoopss..i accidentally raised my voice...best keep it to whispers here)

haha it can be embrassing...may be i would wear a cold look on my cute face so people around would stop laughing at me...not a bad excuse huuuh
Its been my routine for too long to watch out for hanging banners and Low-range entrances in malls and multiplexes coz i end up bumping my head and ouch it hurts grrrrhhh.....why cant they have huge entrance for people like me atleast i dont have to bend tooo much then
Next time make sure you swing your hands to a greater extent lol...so you would come to know if there is a invisible door ahead of you

hehe...but my face is too cute for there to be any other look on it
that swinging hands suggestion isn't that bad...only that someone may think that i'm visually impaired and may insist on helping me walk about!

Oh my God, I can't stop laughing. I just had breakfast and hurried back to the computer. Feeling so full, I didn't think I could understand the whole discussions well unless I read them aloud. ROFL..
None in my teenage to adult years had I experienced that kind of insanely funny situation. However, I remember when I was in 4th grade I would go to mom's office after school. There was this day when I did my weewee thing. After doing my thing, I hurriedly went outside and heard someone laughing. I didn't mind it. After being relieved from the the feeling of the urge to weewee, I wondered why it got so fresh and AIRY (haha)..I reached down the back part hem of my skirt. Nowhere to be found. It got caught in the waist area and we just had the biggest laugh of the day. All of mom's officemates were kind of destressed.
One myLotter had this kind of experience too so she's not alone. Hers was more embarassingt though. She really went outside or heading to the office and nobody cared to tell her what's going on her butt - LOL - until this one good hearted old lady told her about it.

hehe...those little embarrassing situations can be real funny lessons for us to learn from.. provided that we don't simply die from the embarrassment in the first place
as long as i can laugh at ourselves during those times, i'm sure that i'll be able to live through any situation hehe..

In those situations, I'll laugh as hard as I can first..then I can die already - haha.
The good thing about life is that you don't have to take things seriously. Life is too short that you don't want to experience a dull situation. We make the most out of it every day. We laugh, we cry, we argue a bit..but that's just how life is made for us. At the end of the day, it's HOW we faced the problems and embarrassing situations lol - LIFE in general - that matters the most.

I too sometimes do something which shouldn't be done. Some of them I did before and suffered a lot but I couldn't take lessons from that as I use to forget those incidents as time passes by. Therefore when again those circumstances comes I again make mistakes and again suffer!! God!! Save me please, Why can't I take lessons and learn from the mistakes. Why repeat same and waste energy time and sometimes money too.

Well, of course, there are embarrassing moments that happened to us. For me I remember, when I was walking down the street,It was raining that time and I was with my classmates. When I stepped down the stairs, I slipped! Of course the first thing I did is to stand up and I looked around if there were people who saw the incident! I knew that I was blushing that time and when I looked back, I told them, "Whew, I didn't catch the frog!"

Funny,it happens to me before. I was in the mall looking for something. And I dint notice the show window was close in front of me that I bumped my head in the window shelve. I feel embarrass but the first thing I do was look around if someone sees me then a notice a man was looking at me from behind smiling ( It's embarrassing). The fact was I just pretended and smile. As if nothing happens and walk towards the man.I just said I was so close I dint notice.he smiles and I just said the windows was stupid and then he laugh. Awkward but I feel normal again as if nothing happens.

it seems that this has happened to quite a few of us.. i really think that there should be some sort of stickers or signs or even some sort of design element or something on those glass panel doors..it'll save us from a lot of embarrassing situations hehe...
and good to know that you didn't hurt yourself when it happened to you

I can sympathise with you on that one. I have walked into glass doors a few times, and not only bruised my ego, but my head and nose as well. I really can't understand why stores have such clear glass doors in this way because the glass is so clear that it looks as if there's nothing there. Perhaps some of the staff like to stand around and wait for their customers to try and walk through this thick and strong glass, and then have a good laugh about it during their breaks. Or perhaps they like to take bets on how many people will try and walk through the glass! Only joking of course.. but one never knowns! _Derek

hi Derek
hehe...if i were bored working at such places, i might start a little wager like that too during my free time
but really..they should put up some stickers or something to make sure that people do see the glass panel door. at least i can take it. but what if it happen to some old dude with poor eyesight..falling and breaking a hip in that situation wouldn't be that funny to him

mario_stevens,
Well, you've got to give credit to whoever cleaned the glass door for he/she had really done a wonderful if not, excellent job!
The Employee of the Month is certainly due to him/her! The country certainly good worker like him/her around which is really rare to come by.
So, how about taking things from another perspective?

I don't know that I could recover. I guess it would just depend on how much I think I can handle of being humiliated again. At most i usually laugh at myself. After all if you can't laugh at your self why should you laugh at others. Hopfully it won't happen to me. I'm very clumsy anyways. I was never really good at hopscotch because of the balancing act you had to pull while hopping down. well have fun.

hello crysontherocks
in this case, i feel so fortunate that i can laugh at myself when i'm like that. it makes the embarrassment a bit more bearable and now when i sit back and remember it...it was kind of funny seeing myself walk into that door
