When I recently read about the immigrant/migrant farm workers challenge for Americans to take the jobs of illegals, I was put off by the bold claims made by undocumented workers. Here's an article that sums up how I feel about it:

I'm curious how fellow MyLotter's feel about this challenge.

They don't want any of the unemployed folks down here in south central Florida taking the challange because they're made of hardy stock and used to the heat so they'll not only do the jobs, they'll do them better.
If the problem was limited to only a few thousand migrant farm workers, the situation would be different...but there's a lot more to it than that.

I put up stucko on a couple of motels one summer in Florida some years ago and damne...that was a hot dirty job!
Your right there is a "a lot more to it than that". It's not just farm jobs either, around here they have taken all the landscaping jobs as well. This hurt Americans who had their own landscaping business cause the illegals make it impossible for them to competer with the bigger companies that hire them. I also know a lot of guys that would love to have those jobs and would work them for min wage!
It really seems like it's set up so we have to work for corps to be able to live decently...but that's another story.

The construction/home improvement industry is another one that was taken over by these illegal, work for cash, day laborers. The contractors and sub-contractors who hire them are as much to blame as the illegals though.

No surprise there. My mother is a "white woman" who worked picking fruit in Southern California and Arizona back in the day-along with my dad. They said they really enjoyed the time they did it, it was good work because you did not ever have a boss hovering over you and you got paid by how much you picked.
