Pets and hot weather

Right now the weather in my country is very hot, and it is hard for our pets to handle that kind of weather. We have a dog, a cat, a guinea pig and some rabbits. I am wondering what I can do to help them in this situation. We try to keep the doors open and we make sure that they always have access to fresh water. Are there other things that we can do to make it easier for them? How do your pets handle hot weather?

Yes, I agree. Ice can help a bit, especially after we have walked for a while, the second my pug comes back home, he runs to his bowl to drink.
Another good way to use the ice is to put the ice in a basket or big bowl, put the basket or the big bowl in front of a fan, then the wind blowing would be so cool and the dog would stay just in a right place in front of the fan and having good time there. Tell your friend this if she tries to cool down her dog.

Hello Porcospino
In my country, it is very hot too, almost 34 degree at noon and almost 27 degree at night time. It is very hot that normally we have our air-conditioner on, I know it is not good for the environment.
I give my pug water with ice, I switch on the electric fan for him, and if I need to, I would wave the fan for him too just like a servant behind the king and the queen.
I bought a metal mat very long time along, it is for pets especially for dogs, as metal is cool and the dogs know where to go if they feel hot.

Thank you for your response. We don't have air-condition in our house, but it would be very nice on days like this, because it is so hot right now. A metal mat sounds like a good idea. Our dog is very restless, he is walking around from place to place trying to find a cold place to rest.
