I have worked in a call center several times. First time was in the eighties for AT&T. I worked there for about six years. then in the late nineties I worked for Sears for about a year. Then I worked for EDS for about five years. I enjoyed directing people to the correct department the best. The other types of work I did was very stressful and complex. Alot to remember.

Same here, I worked for AT&T, too, but I did not last for long because of the schedule. Thanks my friend!

It's fun and intimidating at first, but as time goes by, the schedule thing will kill you slowly, especially if you're not a nocturnal kind of person. But i hope you'll get a chance to try out applying for a Call-center job. Thanks and good luck my friend!

No thanks! I have done a lot of reception work, as a security officer- in a building with about 2000 staff. It was always OK when working with a receptionist, but when working with colleagues they would always go to ground when it became busy!

Wicked schedule is usually the reason why a worker quits the job of a CC agent.

yes I have. my first call center experience, i lasted almost 2 years! it was fun way back then. although the stress and pressure are all there. then my second one is only 3 months. you don't have to ask why. if you have experience before, you will know the reason...

Being an agent is definitely tough.I was an agent of "teefee" lol for more than a year but I quit last month because i couldn't stand taking any more calls. The management their are idiots and they are not even knowledgeable about the product!

Hi!
I have been in the industry for about 2 years now. I started as a customer rep for a phone company. I can say that it was stressful because of the schedule and the demanding customers. It paid really, really well though. All your frustrations fade away once you see your paycheck. There were even some agents who earned bigger than our team leaders. However, I transferred to another account. This time it is offline. I love my job now. It's much easier. I only answer emails and process requests. It has its downside though. The incentives are not there, so I'm learning to curb my expenses.
I can say that if you want too earn big, you can find it in the call center industry. You have to make a huge adjustments due to schedule and the account that you are in. I think most call centers right now, are into keeping people for the long haul so they are getting more creative with their perks. To those who are thinking of getting into a call center, I suggest you try to ask around first and check the feedbacks then go and get hired!

Yeah, and if the feedback are not so good, look for other companies that are paying good and the same time, their reputation is good, too.

I'm working as call center agent for about 2 years now and most of my schedules are grave yard but I never complain about. Your social life will change once you have become a call center agent's. But you will learn to step out from your comfort zone once you were in call center.

Thank you for calling AT & T Uverse member care, my name is Randy, How may i provide you an excellent service? hehehehe^,..,^
you are lasted only for a month, why??
you don't able to hit your quota? or
you have a poor customer satisfaction =)
the medium in working in a call center is not about the SCHEDULE. its about, how sharp you are to play the game. love your work, be coachable, know your product and speak naturally. I admit, am not a techie person but it doesn't mean I'm not interested with the computer. If the problem is your attitude then, focus and give attention. That's it!
