Do you give your pet a treat when they're begging?

Ohh, how could I resist??? Every time I open a snack, or merely a sound of a plastic my pet Sam comes near me and checks it out. And if it's food, she'll go begging. Lol. Her tail wags crazily, her eyes seems glistening and she stands and twirls, how could I resist? How about you, do you give your pet a treat when they beg?

No, not when he begs, but I give him something small sometimes when he doesn't. I want to encourage him not to beg, and it works pretty well! It is hard to resist the puppy dog eyes sometimes though!

Hi pucca girl: I'd lñike that this happend in my house too, but my mother and my lottle sister can't resist when my dog starts begging so they give them some food even if we have given enough to Simon (that's my dog's name ^^). Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day.

Nope...I don't :)...this only leads to bad behavior and bad manner for my dog. I reward the behavior that I like, and ignore or discipline the behavior i don't like. The consquences for reinforcing bad behavior outweigh the positive feelings I might feel for give my dog a treat for beggging.

Hi anneliz: I think that in general that's the way we can creat a good habitude and that's the reason why my dog has always begged when we are in the dining room. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day.

Nope, I will give my pets a treat when they aren't begging for treats. What I mean is there are a lot of times that they are known to beg for our food when we are eating our meals and we've been working on training them to not beg when I am cooking or when the children are eating and when they don't get under our feet and beg for our food, then we will give them a treat of some sort when we are all done eating.

Your pet is funny . hehe . As I know , many pets like begging their master or others when the people are eating somethings . The pets' actions are so cute at that time ,I think .

Oh yes, my goldfish are always 'begging' for food, although we've managed to train them in a way that they know they will be ignored if they're not meant to get fed, like during the proper feeding times. Animals ae actually more intelligent than we think, almost like children, they know what makes us adults go soft and be nice to them...I think you know what I mean... ;)

Your story reminded me of when I worked with little children in a nursery. Everytime I went in I would go to the large goldfish tank in the lobby and get close to the glass...saying "hi fishies". Of course the fish would all crowd round my face and open and close their mouths.
The little ones really thought I could talk to the fish. Priceless.
Meanwhile my mind is boggling at the thought of training fish. Can I ask how?

Oh, it reminds me of our flowerhorn fish. She's a smart one and she knows me too, loves to beg and all. When I clean her tank she's always behaved but when somebody else does it she starts throwing stones. haha... Really cute.

Once of my goldfish learnt how to make smacking noises once, and at the time I took it as a sign that they were asking for food, I gave in to their poor little faces and gulping, so I gave them some food. Then for the whole day, the goldfish made smacking noises for the whole day , and although I was reluctant and knew I shouldn't feed them, I gave them a little more to eat. The the next day, they kept doing this, and I had to try to ignore them and the following day, occasionally they did so a few more times, but still I was vigilant on not feeding them more than they need. After that, the fish stopped making those noises. There have been other things that they have done that I know shows a significant amount of intelligence in fish and that we can to some extent communicate with them. Maybe it's just me being silly...:)

Hi,, is Sam a dog? What kind?
I can't say I have a definite opinion on this topic. On one hand I am guilty of it in the past, (RIP my lovely dog), on the other it is probably not good.
Generally I tried to limit it to when I was touching his snack foods. If I moved or showed them to him then it would have been mean to not indulge him. But I was a sucker for giving him a little cheese.
Problem is that some things we eat are really bad for animals ey. So not giving him chocolate was ok - and more for me hehhehe.

Awww I bet Sam is really cute. I would love another dog but sadly have no space or time. I will try to have another in the future though. I like to own a bigger dog so need a bigger place.
My friend has had to pay two visits to the vet recently afetr her greedy dog raided the shopping and ate baker's chocolate. I think this included the wrapping once! It is so poisonous yet people don't know.
Does anyone use the special doggie chocolate? Ever tried it yourself? Hehehe

Never, Never Never. My dog must sit quietly and wait patently to get a treat. I'm a strict dog mom. I have a perfect well behaved happy balanced dog.

Hi santos mari chris: I sometimes do this but my normal reaction is to ignore my pet because the vet has told us that is not good for their behaviour and that all of their nutritional requirements are fulfill on the foodwe give him. Thanks for asking us this question. Have a nice day.

First and foremost I do not like that word 'begging' when referring to pets. Would you use that word if a child asked for food? Having said that I do not feed my pet at the table. My pet gets fed before we eat and it has its own plate and a fixed place where it is fed its own special food specially cooked.!

Oh yes I do, they're always there every meal time. Though it's irritating because they meow a lot I still smile, they make me happy.

Surely I do.My rabbit likes to eat bean. When the rabbit runs around my feet,I will put some beans in front of her.By doing so,our pets will have stronger relationship with us,and be easier to follow our commands. When I call my rabbit, she will run to me and lie as I caress her back.
