What makes you send a friend request here at mylot?

This question has always pondered my mind. I was thinking why do you hit that add a friend button on someones profile? Do you just add everyone? Or do you only add someone that you think posts good responses or discussions? I think I do it all, if I see someone take the time to respond to my discussions than they are friend worthy. I have always felt that way since joining this site. I know I should go thru my friends lists and see who is active because that makes a difference as well. So tell me friends? Why do you choose certain people on mylot?

I have not read most of the responses to this as there are a bunch and I'm sure that someone has said this before. I choose to add anyone who asks for they may be the one friend that has skills that I need to learn. And friends help friends.
I responded to this as you ask a question and since you are my friend I felt duty bound to give you an answer.

When a myLotter adds me as friend, I will definitely hit the approve button as fast as the lightning strike. I feel honored every time I see someone added me as friend as interaction is quite smooth when we are discussing something that interests us both.

I don't send requests unless someone asks me to. If I send a request without being asked, its only because I have something important to say to that person that can't be said on the forum and we are only able to pm someone who is on our friends.

When I was newer, I very rarely ever sent a friend request, but I would accept all that I got. Now, if I find someone that I interact with on a regular basis or that seems to be fun and interesting, then I will send them a friend request. In fact, there have been quite a few times that I have had so many interactions with a person that we both thought we were "friends" only to find out that neither of us had ever sent the other a friend request, because we both already thought that we were "friends". There are a few times that I have accepted friend requests and regretted it immediately, though, because I got spammed with PMs that contained referral links or requests for money. Fortunately, that has not been the majority of my experiences, so I will still accept any friend requests that I receive.

I usually request or add friends based on their responses an/or discussions. I usually check out their profile too. If all of their discussions is about making money online then I usually won't accept them. Once I accepted a friend request and they spammed the fire out of my mailbox. I don't like that.

There are many reasons for friend requests here. I will often send one to someone who is new. I know how it feels to be a new member and there were members here who made me feel so welcome. I try to return the favor when i can. I also send friend requests when I am intrigued by a mylotter's discussion,. We can never have enough mylot friends! Happy mylotting!

My reason is very easy.
At Mylot, I want to know the thinking from foreigners.
And if they have similar interests, idea with mine,I will glad to contact with them.
Though we live in different countries,we can keep in touch via internet.
This is very fancy thing.

If they post good responces, if they have similar interests are two of the reasons I request. Sometimes if I find I'm always responding to discussions they start.
I am reluctant to accept new friends of certain ages and certain areas. I also put off accepting people with low numbers.

I accept anybody who requested except for those who are under-aged. It doesn't make sense for me to admit those young people who doesn't have common grounds with me. Some say these young lotters are intelligent and fast thinkers but the different wavelength might not blend well with mine. Under-aged for me here is anyone below 15 years of age. I am not too choosy when it comes to friendship as I believe we are here to socialize and being choosy defeat the purpose of being here in the first place. I am a social being and I welcome anyone who wants to be my friend.

I usually find that some people share an affinity of some sort, and they become friends. In fact, I met the closest friend I've ever had, other than my husband, her on MyLot!

Hi Mom..Happy 4th of July..Its been awhile since I've had the opportunity to talk to you. Hope all is well. When I add a friend it is usually so that I can share recipes with people. Being a chef and having my life revolve around food, I always participate in the cooking discussions and help people with food questions and recipes. Because of the MyLot recipe posting rule, rather than take the chance of the discussion being deleted, I do in in a pm which of course can only be done with "friends".I too often wonder why people request my friendship if it is not because of a food discussion and have figured out that a lot of time its so that the can spam you by asking you to join a site under them. You can pretty much figure that out before you accept them by looking at their profile. I'm interested in seeing how people respond to this post you've made so that I too might understand why people request certain ones to be friends with. Enjoy your holiday!

When someone sends me a request, i normally accept/ approve. Anyway, it will not cost me anything. From me, i send requests to those i find the answers relevant, logical and interesting. I also send requests to those whose answers make me laugh :-) ... and hoping some day to read more of his answers specially when i need a laugh.
