I am not actually one of them but as what I could see right now it is really in demand to the extent that it is really hard to be an employee as nurse nowadays. I mean I have known some that she is registered nurse but then she became a professor in some subject that is not related into nursing.

hi there... if we talk about outside philippines, nurses are really in demand, but sad to say, that the immigration is quiet tough this time regarding the issuance of visas and nurses here in our place were stuck and sad to know the truth that even here in our countries job vacancy for nurses are still needed to fill it out but the budget most especially in government hospitals are not enough to hire a nurse that is why a lot of nurses until now are still jobless and others are working not related to their profession.

There are a lot of nurses here in our company. Maybe half of the population of the employees here in the company are nurses. They are also not able to practice their profession but its still okay cause they are already registered nurses. Meaning to say they can get a better job right away. I know someone who spent 5 years studying nursing, she graduated 4 years ago but she isnt RN yet. She took the board exam many times already but she always failed. I dont wonder anyway, thinking that she spent 5 years instead of 4 years in college.

I'm not a nurse but I considered taking a course for it back when it was still blooming. The only reason I didn't pursue that career is because my heart really lies with computers. Maybe I'll try Medical technology so it might still be related to nursing at some point.

I'm not one of them. When I was picking a course 5 years ago I strongly disagreed with my parents when they urged me to take up nursing. I told them that almost everyone's taking up nursing. After 4 yeas, I might not even have a nursing job, and very right was I. during my 2nd year in college, RNs were having a hard time finding jobs.
I'm glad I took B.S. I.T. the demand never fluctuates because IT is always moving forward, there are always new things to learn, I.T. people who don't catch up gets thrown off. Unlike in medical professions where remedies are somewhat fixed and innovation is slow (not that I have anything against the medical profession, it's just ITs more fluid)
A lot of RNs are now in the call center industry, actually if you ask nursing students what they'll do after grad, they'll say that they'll review for the boards and work as a call center agent while waiting for an opportunity abroad

hi tehr knicnax. good for you you have practiced your profession. Yeah its sad to know that nurses here in the philippines did not apply their knowledge on their profession, some ended up in call centers. Everything happends for a reason. Hope the government wound put into action regarding giving oppurtunity of nurses to practice their profession in our country..
