Buying yarn in stores is a hobby in itself for me. I watch for sales and regularly patrol craft and fabric stores for closeout yarn. I actually had to stop myself the other day from buying a particular yarn because it was being discontinued, but I didn't have a particluar need for it. Now, I am not going to buy any more yarn until I use what I have on hand. Unless, it is on 60% or more on sale! Lord help me if I ever get the chance to order from Smiley's in New York. Does anybody else suffer from this problem?

I see they are in Austin. Do they carry those expensive yarns that are so nice? We have a boutique yarn store that is close, but I just can't justify the cost of some of the yarns.

Apparently, they have both inexpensive yarns and the specialty yarns, I've thought of getting some to crochet, tried knitting and it took too long to get anything done

I, to, love buying wool, although, I still have plenty at home to use, for various projects. I think, more wool shops are opening now, judging by, my knitting mags, people, will, always love, apprecaite, an, knitted gift, car boot sales are as good souce to find wool, sometimes, jumble sales, although, I've not been to any for couple of years. I will always, make use of what I have, no, waste there. Not, living in USA, in UK, wool shops are smaller, more, personal on the whole, I would imagine, yours to be large, without, everything, you need under the one roof, now, that, would be good. I, wonder, how, expensive, wool is in USA?

I don't use much wool yarn, but I would like to try to felt something. Most of the items need to be washed. I know there is washable wool, but acrylic works better for me. I did a quick conversion and skein of wool yarn here is $5.49 average, so for you it is 3.61 . The shops in the U.S. are all different sizes. But, I look online for sales, too.
