Will technology effect who we are in the future?

I was just wondering, will the technology evercoming today, effect who we are as individuals in the future? That is to say, as elderly folk will our health be decreased, or if not our health, will our mindset be numb, or will it be outrageous? Will our morals be lost as they seem to be now, or do you think we will bounce back? somehow we will turn around, and like many things, go back in the ways of our people.... Not that we will be hunterers and gatherers, but what I am more asking is will technology destroy us or will we learn not to rely on technology before it's too late?

I would hope that us older people can teach the younuns not to depend all the time on tech. but to use their brains and imagination and follow what we teach them in morales

When my youngest son was in kindergaden they had comps in the class room that showed them the alphabet lower case and upper case. I worked with the kids but to me this didnt help much as they just was not gtting it. I do beleive that they are working for kids not to know how to use thier own brains. I was good in math and she did my kids end up good in math. Y a know in all the othr schools mykids went to I didnt see another comp in their class room. DOnt have one in prekinder that grand daughter is going too will have to wait and see if they have any here.

When I was still in school calculators were being used more then they should've been. I can't complain as I stink at math, but well i guess that could be one reason why I do because I could use a calculator. In ways I wish some of the computer installments that are going on in schools would stop, I heard one school somewhere had IPADS, and I am thinking for goodness sakes!

I think technology will affect who we are in the future because it is already affecting us now, kids no longer us calculators to do math they turn to computers and and I think if we are to lose all technology people would panic and not know what to do,and I think in the future it will be worse since we will have flying cars and who knows what else and the more technology we have the more people become dependent on it and the less they can do for themselves,I love you with all of my heart and soul.

It is a scary prospect. Instead of using technology for good things, technology will be used for bad things. If we think about it technology is already used for bad things. In your example about children using calculators, this is true, and they are also using them to talk to friends as the scientific ones you can type in things with. It comes in handy but it can also be a distraction. Cell phone use, while prohibited during class, doesn't stop those who do have them from using them. Computers, while great can also distract a child who would rather surf online, and while school's block certain websites, kids are getting more and more savvy and can unblock the site and block it back without anyone realizing it. I am not even sure what is going on in the way of farming technologies. That may be the least updated technologies out there, though I am not sure. My point is people should be updating things that would help us not hinder us. We should have better ways to till the land, more environmentally friendly cars, not a cellphone where we can play farmville, or a gas guzzling smoke making car!

Hi SomeCowgirl, I think that technology has helped us and will continue to do so in the future. I feel that people will live longer and will also have a better quality of life. I don't think that we will go backward but forward. Morals weren't that much better in the past but many things we covered up. I look forward to a time when people will not be afraid to be themselves, rather than having to conform to the wishes of others. We would have a more open and honest society. Don't be fooled into thinking that everything was better in the past. Blessings.

I can not deny that technology has helped us but so many things we can do on this world wide web, and not all of it is good. I am all for technology to discover a healthier way of living, but it's just some of the darker aspects of everything. I will admit I romanticize alot so while I don't know exactly what it was like before I was born, I'd like to believe it wasn't all bad either.

I don't think it will necessarily make us different but our lives will be. Technolody has made things go so fast that we will certainly not have the same sort of lives we did ten or twenty years ago. Computers will be at max proformance and all the products we use now will be even more speedy and outrageous.

I am just hoping that we don't forget what so few years ago we had. I mean to say that only a few decades ago we didn't care about technology, we relied on our hands and feet to help us work. I know I am being a hypocrite as here I am earning online.

Arguably, technology has brought a lot of advancement in our lives. And we are all different because of it. Our lives have changed. And more and more we become dependent on technology. Once in a while we do hear some movements, or resurgence of a lifestyle we had once. On how to work and build with our hands. I think that is important, so as just to remind people as a society that there is something else aside from relying too much on technology. And I think that reminder is what will keep us from destroying ourselves.

I agree that technology has helped us in good ways, and I can't be too much of a hypocrite as technology has made it possible for us to talk and earn here. However, I agree, and hope that people will remember they can work with their hands, and not rely so much on technology that may destroy us one day.

I think it has, and will, continue to change us. In 1990 I would never have imagined that we would have been communicating like this. Once something has been invented it is almost impossible to reverse the process, short of major setback.

Your right it would take a lot of man power to stop what's already in the process. In ways I hope that the economy gets worse just so these companies that make the computers and phones and all that lose a little business and so don't make as many of the devices that may destroy our world some day.

Thecnology is a double-edge sword, fortunately, the handle is still in our hand,we can still keep it in our control, but technology is still advancing and people are greedy and short-sighted,I think, maybe one day, people will lose control of the technology, become slaves to it and high-tech weapon will wipe out this planet, the technology is becaming so complicated no one can maste sevaral of them,no one can have an overview of it.

Technology will continue to advance at an insane rate. Our productivity will increase a lot with the right technology. In fact, it has and will continue to increase at that rate. Ever since the moment that paper has been invented, there has been technology. There will always be new ideas of how to get things done easier and perhaps better. In ten or fifteen or fifty or however many years, it is really hard to see how much technology will shape the world. It is almost terrifying in many ways. I think technology can be both good and bad. After all, while we have been enriched in many ways in technology, there have been many more sophisticated weapons created that can hurt and kill many. That's one of the scary parts of technology. One day, someone is going to create a weapon that may wipe out the entire planet. So technology will have some benefits, but there is a dark side to everything and it will continue to evolve at this rate.

it has already changed us and it will continue to change us in the future. i think that we should be careful on how should we let technology to affect us. we should be affected by it in positive ways rather than in negative ways.

Of course it affect us, for example, the dance style called robo-dance was derived from the robots and was upgraded to techno. soon there will be more of this kind of changes in our way of living as technology improves. Thanks.

Almost all people relies on technology now a days, and you could see technology almost at all places around the world. Technology as they say had made life easy, works are more fast and more fun. Future, what could be in the future? We don't know and we can't tell, but one thing is for sure technology will keep on advancing. With this, i think technology could destroy us, many writers thinks of this too, that's why there's the "Terminator" film. But still, i doubt it, with our technology today, we could study future, and we just might able to not rely on it too much and save ourselves, and i think this is starting right now. Now we are more concern of our mother earth's behavior, because our world today is already knocking on us about the effects of our advance fast technology, so with technology too we are now thinking on what we can do save our beloved earth. Thanks for the topic Much respect

I've been reading all the responses so far and everyone seems to be saying about the same thing. You are the first one I've seen to mention about the environment and it makes me think. You are right we are starting to realize that the environment is precious too, and this is carried out through our t.v. waves by our newscasters and favorite celebrities who tell us to remember Mother Earth and cherish it. However, I find that kind of... hypocritical I suppose would be the word because not only are they talking about it but they are using technology to talk about it, technology that could have been saved, or rather should I say energy that could have been saved.

well on one side technology is improving our lives.. so many inventions in technology has made our living more better than it used to be 25 years before.. technology improvements have taken us to a higher level of living.. but on the other side of thec improvements .. there lies abig problem indeed .. for eg. moblibe phone usage has decreased our brain effeciency by 25 % already... and for added trouble it has a high chances of causing brain tumor in early ages of peoples lives... there by reduces the lifespan of humans... and another problem is people use technology more and so they dont do any kind of physical works making us dumb..:-( .. So as far as me technology must only enhance the betterment of our lives not degrade :-)

Yes excessive overuse of technology dulls us. I think we should take a few hours out of the day to step away from technology, and I don't mean just when we are sleeping.

Technology is a useful tool to make our work easier. If we handle it carefully and don`t become over dependent on it then it can help us but if we start depending on it completely, then we will become like zombies. To give an example, how useful a simple thing like a calculator makes life easier for us when we have to do cumbersome calculations. We find that today we can`t do without it at all. In our younger days when there were no calculators we could reel off our maths tables without any trouble. However if you ask a child to say his tables he will go blank and reach out for the calculator. We have to make sure that we become the masters of technology and not let it rule our lives because if we did then our brains will become rusty from not being used and we will become slaves to it.

Tech has already changed us. For example, in the past, being punctual even in casual gathering with friends is very important due to the lack of mobile phone that you simply can't inform one another you are going to be late. Now? It is simply the norm that people be late for 30 mins+. I do believe that we are relying on tech so heavily that we have already passed the point of no return (where we just can't go back to the life we used to have). When tech becomes more advanced, we will simply be more dependent that not.

A lot of people have benefited from the advancement of technology and some also had their lives destroyed because of this. But wherever technology brings us, we should always put nature into consideration because if the earth gets destroyed I do not think human technology is not yet that advanced to save the human race.
