Do you sell on E/Bay or another online auction site. I have my own store on one of the Aussie sites and generally I make a bit of money each month, but when I sell something , sometimes it is so hard to get the payments from some people it becomes so frustrating. What do you think a fair amount of time is for a person to pay for an item they have bought on auction. 1 week 2 weeks.? I think 2 weeks is long enough for people to pay.Do you file for an unpaid item ? I think its rude that people bid on items if they have no intentions of paying, what are your thoughts?

Oh! I had a feeling every online shop owner earns like anything. I am very much surprised after reading your experience. Yes, there maybe fraud buyers, who just hung up on the internet to kill some time, really intending to buy nothing. I don't know how the e-bay or your site works, but to control them you can create a members only area and keep the records updated. As soon as these people start auctioning, you can just refer to back history and put them on hold. There must be some way to eliminate these fraud buyers.

We do have a rating system on my site ,but if no one is rated it is hard to tell what these people are like, so I suppose you get the good with the bad sometimes, and once they place a bid its hard to block them, but it is certainly annoying and such a time waster to chase up theses payments.

I signed up at Ebay and another local online store where I was able to make some money. But I haven't had the time to manage the stores so, it has become kind of dormant right now. Maybe by December, I might revive my online stores again.

It does take a lot of time to manage a on line store. I hope you get it up and running by December in time for Chrstmas.

I don't use e-bay as there fees are really high, so you do not make much money in the end. I use a site called Oztion here in Australia and the fees are really cheap ,so you can actually make a profit. It costs me $5.00 a month to have my store online which is really good, but it is these people who place bids and do not pay that is getting me a bit irrate at the moment. What sort of things do you sell?

I have an online store but not on auction site. I open it in Facebook, selling Korean wholesale women clothes. It is frustrating sometimes when people place order but come the time to pay, didn't. I think the fair amount of time for a person to pay for an item is 1 week maximum. I don't understand why certain people like to blindly place order but then didn't want to make payment or claim the item. I used to order even before they make payment but now, they have to pay first. There's a lot of unclaimed items in my store that other people not interested to buy.... so it is making me loss my profit unnecessarily.

Yes it is horrible that they place orders and do not pay.I think that 1 week is enough time for a person to pay, allowing bank transfers etc. I am glad you make your customers pay up front now as we do not want to lose any profits.

I do not have an online store but I have an ebay account because I like to shop online, it gives me a lot of choices compared to shopping in the mall where we have a limited choice. As to your question here in our country our ebay sellers just gives 3 days to complete the payment if not they will report you to ebay for not paying up. I am also a member of multiply I know some people use this as a social networking site but I just have contacts here so I could buy items. In multiply sellers from our country has made another site called Officially Banned where joy bidders, non paying buyers and bogus sellers are posted together with the evidences. Yes 2 weeks is a pretty long time to wait for payment. This could be done only for layaway items but most sellers require 60% deposit and that is non returnable.

I thought some places like e-bay in certain countries were strict in there time frame for people to pay. I dislike these joy bidders and non paying buyers ,they are a waste of time and we get charged fees for the sale, so we have to re list and get charged more fees.

I also had a similar situation like your friend with a computer, and had to chase the person for weeks and threatened to put him in to the auction site. He then sent it about 4 weeks later and it was crap, so I guess you have to be so careful
