Omissions and Lying

A girl came back to her hometown after working in another city but she doesn't want her immediate family to know that she's back. So this is her conversation with her friend:
Girl: Hey, I'm back!
Boy: Wow! So are you staying with your family?
Girl: Uhm, no, oh please don't tell them that I'm back.
Boy: So you want me to lie to your whole family?!
Girl: No, not like that, just do it by omission.
Further to the conversation above, omission is like an option to avoid lying to anybody. So, do you also agree that omission is not equivalent to lying?

Hi,Carlynganda, first,I had a question, why did this girl not want her family to know her coming back?Unbelievable,a girl came back to the hometown, but she didn't want to let her family know. So,in my opinion, omission is equivalent lying,no matter how the reason is.

actually the girl is running away from her responsibilities to her family..so when she gets the chance to work in another city she grabs it..but now she's back in her hometown but she's not yet ready to communicate with her family again..
