What do dreams of blind people look like?

This is a very interesting question.
I assume that if they become blind after an accident, they dream like everyone else and have the chance to see what they can't see in everyday life.
But if they're blind from the birth, the things go differently.
Blind people dream exactly like everyone, the only difference is that the sensory system in charge of getting to know images while they're awake is not the vision, but the sensation. When they touch something, a table, a cat, a face, they're able to re-draw it in their mind, and therefore dream of it, even if the object wouldn't be exactly like it is in reality.
A blind person once told me this, and I'm reporting this to you.

Thanks for the report. I knew it's like that but for me it's hard to imagine.

You're welcome!
I got curious about the same thing once, and talked about it with a dear friend of mine. Unfortunately, he's blind from the birth, he was born with a malformation, but these are the things he answered to me. He even said that when I told him I have "red hair" he imagined red to be a bright yet darkish color, but wasn't sure he was imagining it exactly like the color is.
But then he said something that impressed me very much: he said that perhaps our way of seeing colors is different from person to person, we just name and describe it the same way because conventions taught us to do so.

I agree that is a very interesting question. I really have no idea what blind people dreams. It would probably depend if they have been blind since birth or not. If they have seen what the world looks like i guess they probably dream like a normal person. If they have been blind since birth i honestly don't know what there dreams are like because I don't know anyone who's blind. Your question really made me curious. I do wonder what they dream since all they see is black, maybe they don't dream they just sleep and wake up. I really don't know but I would love to know.

Maybe the person who wasn't born blind could have visual dreams one night, and the next one would be non visual.

Well, considering that blind people can't see, they can't really put a face to a voice. So I guess the brain gets creative and just gives the person in the blind person's dream... a face to match a voice? Like you know how some people say "Oh she sounds more like a Betty or Ruthy." Maybe it's something like that.
The blind person still has a mind and imagination... so maybe it just improvises? That's so interesting to think about. Lol! I guess we're just too afraid to ask a blind person "What is it like when you dream?" I would find it rude, so of course I'D be afraid to ask... Yikes!! But still... very interesting!

You know, that's actually a very interesting question that I've never quite considered. I guess it would depend on whether or not the person had been blind their whole life. If not, I'm guessing their dreams would be just like ours. But if they were blind their whole life, I'm assuming they either wouldn't really have dreams that were vivid enough to remember or they might just be memorable but the person experiences in the dream exactly what they experience in their every day life.

I think they could remember the dreams because strong emotions you get in the dreams can be much more memorable than the visuals.

WOW Good question! Maybe they only dream of sounds and feelings and things that they experience in more vivid detail than we do.
