In the Bible, Revelation 13 speaks of "the beast" (the devil), and how to identify his followers. In verses 16 and 17, the Bible says they will have the "mark of the beast" on their right hand or forehead. Verse 18 says: "Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred threescore and six." I have heard that adding this number up as 666 was wrong. I've heard it ACTUALLY equals 616, 12066, and many other things. Unless you are using your calculator wrong, It actually DOES add up to 666. It isn't considered an "unlucky" thing, just more of an all around bad omen. If you see people in big groups starting to get 666 tattooed on their foreheads and the back of their right hands, it's kind of a sign of the end of time. You only have to worry if the government starts requiring people to do that so they can buy food and clothes and stuff.

Eh, the forehead and/or back of the hand thing was mentioned in the Bible. It might just be a chip thing though... Who knows. I don't think using credit cards or checks is a bad thing or anything, but it's getting closer and closer to having a chip in your hand to pay for stuff.

Hi, Crazy_Poster. I have always wondered what is the meaning of 666 too. I want to know if this number can be found in the Bible? I hope that I can get some answers to this assumption, as you want to as well.

Hello there! For me i think the number 666 refers to a name, a name of a man who will be the anti-christ (the beast). The Bible describes a future one world government leader ruling for the last 42 months of these End Times. He should be alive today if this is the last generation.

I have written about this subject extensively. I do now that the number 666 is not the "devils" number according to Scripture. We are told rather that it is a "man's number" at Rev 13:18. It is not a number that is to be feared. In fact, revelation of what this number is and who it applies to cannot be known by any today - even though many speculate. The reason why this number cannot be attached to anyone or anything thing in our present time period is because of what the Apostle John says in The Book of Revelation at Rev 1:10. The events within The Book of Revelation that John saw and was told to write down were to occur in a period call the Lord's Day. That "day" is yet distant future. That means that nothing mentioned within The Book of Revelation has had a "start" at being fulfilled and nothing within it stands in place today. I believe that most of the so-called believing world has been completely misled in this regard and are making attempts at bringing "backward" to our day events foretold to happen far far into the future. I doubt many of us who are adults will live to see the things mentioned and to be fulfilled in The Book of Revelation. It seems like the motion picture industry and - sadly - the Church-system - has been instrumental in ascribing this number to the "devil" or to the "antichrtist" (which is not mentioned in The Book of Revelation). I have written an article on this at the link below that might be of some interest and provides a fresh perspective heard no where else on this topic of 666: http://www.e-prophetic.com/666-2/

I have not really read about these numbers in the Bible but many people say that in the future without these numbers you would not be able to conduct business or even buy something from supermarkets. I'm not scared of the numbers, I think people would not really be marked with them but rather a code for worldliness. If you embraced worldliness, I guess that would mean you're marked. I tend to accept this interpretation rather than the belief that you would be physically marked.

The Number 666 is mentioned in the bible really only once, In revelations, the last bible book. It is connected to a wild beast. In the bible, numbers are associated with different things, for instance the number 40 is associated with a time of judging. and the number 7 with perfection. however in this case it is the number 6 repeated three times it denotes complete imperfection. 6 being the number less than seven, and 3 meaning a solidly established thing. As for it being The 'devils' number, revelations talks about the serpent or the great dragon giving it's power to a wild beast of similair description to the one bearing the number 666, so no, it isn't the devil directly but an entity close to him. I am not scared of the number itself, but more concerned with what it means.
