Shoul the man buy gifts for the children of his new girlfriend

I think when a guy or a girl come into a relationship that they should know that their mate comes as a package deal, which means if it is the kids birthday buy a gift. However, don't start buying gifts for no reason or she will think you are trying to buy the kid with gifts. What do you think about this?

I feel its always ok to buy gifts for children on special ocassions...There is nothing harm in it. Children love gifts. Why will the new girl / guy protest this.

No but the guys I have talked to feel that they are being pressured to do this, and I think when you go out with a girl who has children that you should buy gifts on birthdays and special occasions but that it is not a requirement to just have to buy gifts.
