Say you're already making a part-time income online. Would you ever consider packing in your offline job to concentrate fully online in the hopes of building it up into full-time income?

Hmm, I don't think it's a farce. Why do you think it is? Is this through your own personal experience?

I don't think it's a farce too... Some website owners are earning thousands from a high volume of traffic. It's different methods for different people.

I did that 10 years ago so I could stay at home with my children. The first year was frustrating as I tried to learn the ropes...now after all this time I can look back and not regret my decision for one moment. Happy Earnings

No, because to me, I don't think I can do that because I love work too much.. Besides, I'm not earning much online so I don't think that would work, unless someone can tell me how you can get at least $1000 (USD) a month online, which I've tried years ago, and only recently got back to the scene cause work burden is decreasing a little, and I miss giving my opinions and helping others out.. I've tried so many times, I paid for subscriptions and tried earning from there, I got nothing, a waste of money, got scammed many times.. so I stopped... so now, I'm only on Mylot giving out my opinions and trying to help.. But if I were to start a family.. then that would be a different case.. But who knows? If anyone here though knows how you can get a steady stream of $1000 USD per month for a non US country user.. please do tell me about it... I'm all up for it!!

What work do you do offline? How much are you earning online at the mo'? There are people making $1k plus a month online. Some share how they do it and you don't usually have to pay for the knowledge. Perhaps it's a matter of if you have an interest in the way they make it as well as the energy. It does take work and if you have an offline job, it can be hard to then come home and work online too.

Well, if you're into writing, you could try thw WAHM writing forum. A number of their members make over $1000 a month - http://www.wahm.com/forum/wahms-who-write-46/ There's also Pat's blog at SmartPassiveIncome.com. He consistently makes more than $1k a month and shares how he does it.

I most definately would and have considered it but I really have not found anything to do at home, I would love the thought of not having to get up early and driving through that awful traffic in the morning and on the way home. Plus you could spend time at home with your family as well. But I will continue my search!! Have a good day!!

What things have you tried doing at home? Or what are you interested in doing at home? Traffic can be frustrating and annoying. Thank God I don't have to do that on the regular. I don't drive, but when I used to travel into or through the city for work, it was all about the packed trains, the bad breath, B.O. and incessant train delays.

Hmm, try the following sites for ideas: - MakeMoneyOnlineFreeNoww.com - ResidualsandRoyalties.com - TheUniversityKid.com I don't know if you'd consider writing, but if you would, you could read through these for ideas and inspiration: - FreelanceWritingGigs.com - AllFreelanceWriting.com - FreelanceHomeWriter.Blogspot.com p.s.: bad breath/B.O. - I actually taught myself to hold my breath for a while. The problem was when I eventually had to breathe, I ended up breathing in a whole lot more than I would have if I was just breathing normally.

I don't work offline, so workign online is my only income besides a fixed income that I make every month. What I make online isn't all that much, but it does add up over time. I had looked for a very long time before I found mylot, and once I started working in here, then I found the other sites that I am doing as well, so it is all good. I have only been working online since April of last year, so it hasn't been all that long, but I will continue to wdo what I have been doing as long as I keep getting paid. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Hi rosekiss, You sound like you've found your own groove and you're pretty content with how things are going for you. Good. Do you mind me asking what your fixed income is? And if you had the option to work offline, would you?
5 Jul 10
I think i would but only if the income of my parttime became equal to what i make off line, because if i make 80 a day off line and 30 online then i do not think i could take that risk, but if you young and no responsibilities then i do not see why not

Yeah, that makes sense. Hypothetically speaking: Would you then have to work twice as hard online to make that 80 before calling the offline one a day?

Well...I don't have a job, so I guess the question doesn't apply to me, does it? If I did have a job though, there's no way I'd give it up to make money online, since earning online is very difficult and haphazard. It will always be just an extra income stream to me and nothing more.

Yeah, I run a few websites and blogs. My most lucrative method of earning money online was through article writing, but the site I used recently instituted new measures this month to ensure they weren't losing money. people were apparently scamming them with traffic fraud, so now what used to earn me $100 a month now earns me a tenth of that. :S

If, and only if, the job online has been very well documented as being legitimate and something I am sure I can do. And also if things won't chanege or the amount of money I will be making will not drop significantly. It would have to be a very good situation and be something I am sure I can do for long term.

Hmm...ok. You need to be 100% sure of what you're jumping into before you jump into it. I understand that. Can you see yourself working full-time online? Do you think it's a realistic vision?

It really depends on the sort of thing you would be doing. Alot of scammers out there and alot of different type of work you could do. If you find one that is legit and is something you would love to do and have an aptitude for then GO FOR IT!

Yes, only if my partime income equals or greater than my full time income. It's my goal to have a stable online income so that I can just stay at home to work and go to any places whenever and wherever.

As of this moment I dont have job so I only earn online but this is a hazle because you arent ensured an income. I am though so lucky to have a boyfriend with a good job so I dont have to worry to much. But if the right offline job suddently is there I wont hesitate to take it. But I also live by the philosophy work smarter and not harder ;) Last month I managed to earn $329 through various online tasks. Next month will likely be less because I am hardly home.

You kinda have a job (albeit a part time one) if you managed to make $329 with it last month. What kind of offline job would be ideal for you?

Yeah but the amount I earn monthly is very different from month to month... The ideal offline job would be very flexible and part time to full fill the time I need to excel in my sport (10m Air Rifle Olympic Event) but this is not something I would never earn money with, the goal is just to compete in the Olympic games one day. I guess once im finished with competing an ideal job could be in a coach position.

Hi, This is a very good question, and most of the people that you will ask will most likely say yes. What is better, sitting in an office doing mind numbing tasks with the boss breathing down your neck, working at home on what you like to do and do it when you like with your own comforts? I know what most people will answer, work from home/online. If I were in a normal job, I would most likely choose the working online option. However, I run my own business, so I work from home anywhere, and still get to do my online work! What could be better?! Although if one is considering quitting ones job to work full time online, one must consider what risks are involved. The most obvious one being, what if the website where most of your income comes from shuts down or goes bankrupt? Can you still afford to pay the bills? Pay the rent/mortgage? Afford to eat? Yeah, it's very risky! But if you have a constant stream of freelance work, that can cover the monthly costs atleast, then go for it. Lee.

Hi Lee, Actually, there are a number of replies in this discussion that have erred on the side of caution. However, yes, I think you'd get a fair amount of people who'd cherish the idea of not having to sit in the office, even if they could have one or two weekdays working at home and the rest in the office. You run your own business? Cool. Doing what? (if you don't mind me asking) I guess, online-wise, if you diversified your income, then it would decrease the risk if one source were to lessen or go completely belly-up.

Hi, Most certainly the best course of action before taking the plunge would be to ensure you have a contingensy plan, a backup if the worst should happen. I run an IT company :) Lee.

No, I wouldn't because it is to much of a risk for me. The only reason I would is if the money I was earning online was more than that I earn from my job. Otherwise I use my earnings just for savings. ~Paul

What if you saved up enough from your online earnings to live off of for, say, one or two years, would you consider going part-time for your offline job?
• Argentina
5 Jul 10
No. Sorry, but it's impossible to live off the money you make on the internet. If you are lucky, you'll be able to pay half of an aparment rent each month. It's very difficult to be successful here and this is rather risky. My advise is to go on working and forget about (or pay less atention to) making money on the internet.

Some people make good money with Hubpages and AC, while others don't. I guess it's down to how you work those sites and whether it's your cup of tea in the first place. Personally, Neobux didn't work for me, but again, there are people that it works for. I don't think the probabilities are as low as you might think. Yes, several people struggle to eek out anything respectable. But, on the other hand, there are lots of people making a living online.

hello browneyed, your question make me think of a scenario, which would be somewhat like I am sitting in my home office. Working according to my own timings, working at will, no pressure or fear ob boss. Seems exciting, indeed. But then comes in mind the transient world of internet where one site is paying you lot of money for your simple activity and other day you find that site was a scam. In fact nothing is sure and safe. So to be on a safer side just don't quit your regular job but do enjoy the internet for that extra cash. thank you

I'm kind of working towards that. I have a part-time home business that I'm converting to my full-time income. I want to change my full-time CPA job to part-time and make my part-time home business to my full-time income. I can't wait to tell my boss "I QUIT!"

i just created my very own online business. I am working my butt off to get this thing up and running and make a true live income with it. if i could make what i am making at work with this site, i would so quit my job. i would not do it if i was only bringing in half the money. to me that would be silly. but i work both my website and my job full time. so far in less then a month I have 29 members and am making some money

I haven't seen squat that will make as much money as a job in the real working world. I had hoped for years to find something that would make me even $100 a week and I can not find that online. I can barely find that IRL how could I find it online? Most things that can be done either take a long time to make money like CTP ect... but the bills come fast and making a few cents a day doesn't cut it. I'm also not into doing e-bay or do I feel I make anything worthy of opening an Etsy shop.

Well, I have been making money online for a year already. I do earn but its not that big. Basically, I do online earning for fun. I have not taken it seriously. Well, earning online for me will remain as a part time and for fun considering that I do not have much knowledge to earn big. I have a friend who does his living by earning online. He has a vast knowledge on a lot of things. He was able to build a house, buy furnitures, car and support his family from his earnings online for the past five years. If I have the same knowledge as my friend, I would probably consider quitting my job and concentrate on online money making.

Yes. But only if I see enough opportunities that really show I can live on it, you know what I mean? Right now i earn a little money on the side and I'm only doing it a few hours each day. If I can have a steady stream of opportunities then perhaps I can take the plunge. Still though there are other things to consider, like not having benefits like a health card for me and my family if I go solo.

Well, think about your ideal situation, really sink your teeth into your ideal. Then, weigh up the pros and cons of working offline and working online. If sourcing a full-time income from working online is the direction you want to take, you can work towards it a bit at a time. Maybe you could save up all the money you make online for a year while keeping your offline job. After a year, you could look at how much you've saved, reassess things - see if you can possibly scale back on your offline job and focus more on the online stuff while living off your year's worth of online savings.
