Treatment for new responders

I have noticed over the past couple weeks that some new responders are getting sarcastic comments. When they have been around longer then they are fair game like the rest of us, but shouldn't we make them feel welcome? If on my first post I had received a comment like read earlier today by one of our more experienced responders, I wouldn't have returned. What's everyone's opinion?

I have not responded to alot of different subjects because I'm afraid someone will give me a sarcastic response. No one should be afraid to give their own opinion on a subject. I have been reading different responses and some people act like they are an expert on every subject. If they want to keep mylot going, there need to be some more ground rules.

Hello, I'm glad that you are addressing the issue of sarcastic/rude responses. I say that it doesn't matter how experienced a 'responder' that you may be here in this forum, what matters is how well experienced you are in life . In my opinion an experienced 'responder' is someone who shows respect, diplomacy and old fashion kindness when responding to other peoples thoughts, feelings and opinions. So what if the questions asked seem, silly/weird or irrelevant...who are you to judge?

I agree but I think that everyone should be treated with respect. If you do not have a helpful response that adds to the discussion, don't respond. I have said this to the people who are being rude.

I agree with Chiggerdog. The whole point of the site (I thought) was to post questions & somebody to answer you. Theoretically this is a great idea. In reality though there are a lot of people putting stupid or sarcastic responses merely to get the money. This would potentially put a new member off asking anything else. There is no need to insult people. You can totally disagree with someone without being ignorant & insulting. Everyone is entitled to their point of view but there are ways of expressing yourself which arenĀ“t rude.

I think it's correct... I personally don't care if one is new or not. I've got quite a great rating, but I've been here for less than a week, so I could consider myself a newbie too. What I can't stand, though, is when both new and "old" responders just start threads that have been started and covered already, and not even so long ago. Or when they ask about stuff they could find without any problems just surfing for two minutes the myLot website, for example.
