Why do we love french fries so much?

I know a few people that refuse to eat french fries because they swear it makes them break out badly on their face. I like them a lot, but not as much as other things. I love the crispy crunch of them. But when it's comes to potatoes I'd rather a baked potato over french fries any day.

I think the goodness of eating French fries is ecause it's crispy and crunchy. It definitely a perfect snack. It's sweet and salty. And the bonus is that you can eat together with any favorite dip or sauce you want, I like dipping it in ketchup, in sour cream, or in gravy. My favorite dip is gravy. I really love French fries even if it's just plain.

I am for one pretty much addicted to french fries. That is the favorite sidedish in just about every meal I have, lunch, dinner, supper. I often go to reatsurants which serve buffets, and french fries will be there in my plate every time. Yummy and tasty !

hello, leowyatt yeah, french fries seems to be part of the food group that everybody couldn't completely stay away from--like chocolate and ice cream. i guess it's the guilty feeling that we feel for having eating such an enormous amount of calories, or the soft, salty, and sandy meat that only potatoes have. i really don't know, all i know is that i love french fries. hahah one of my friends shared a story of a girl who kept a french fry stick in a glass container--for two years, and it never even rotted. o.O scary as hell, thinking that THAT's what you eat, but i still eat them anyway. LOL

the fries taste good because of the MSG!i will have them once in a month as i don't like to eat them very much.if i go to fast food restaurant or when there is some potatoes left at home then i will make and have them in my menu.i can't imagine if i eat them everyday.

I don't really know what it is either, and i would really like to know. They taste so good...for some reason it a potato doesn't taste the same...maybe it's just that particular combination of salt, potato and oil...at high temperatures... but then again, I think the main thing may be from the oil, like, if you've used it over several times in cooking, and then use it to fry the chips, the chips taste much better because it has absorbed all the other flavours from the previous cooking, but this is so unjealthier and dangerous for your long term health...

Yeah! I wonder why we love it so much. its just really good! I also love french fries but it has been a long time since I had one. I think the last time I ate fries was 2 months ago.

I believe that it is all in the flavor lol. I dunno, especially in fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Arby's, Jack in the Box, etc, they all have their unique taste of fries. Even here in California where I live, there's a famous fast food chain called In-N-Out Burger that also has fries with a distinct and unique flavor. I personally love them, but depending on how they're cooked, they can be oh so bad for you xD. Is it definitely rare to find anyone with a dislike in fries. :D

I love french fries too! I think the attraction is the taste, the fact that they are hot and have a mild flavor, and that they are good finger food. They also go great with meals, especially ham/cheeseburgers.
