Serious advice needed to get rid of mosquitoes...

Lately, the mosquito population has increased exponentially in the place where I live and it's becoming VERY annoying. Each day I kill hundreds of mosquitoes and they don't hesitate to show up the very next day. I use spray to kill them but some of them escapes. The mosquito electric coil is of no use. Last night, they were sitting on the electric coil itself and enjoying. The last thing I'm yet to try is the mosquito nets. But not sure how effective it is.
What surprises me is that in spite of killing hundreds of mosquitoes every day, they keep showing up.
I'm afraid of using sprays to kill them as it may lead to human side effect.
Is there a magical way to totally get rid of them? Or at least make them stay away from living rooms?
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Mosquitoes are REALLY annoying not to mention the fact that they could carry malaria and dengue, which they could mischievously transmit from one person to another. Many can get away with Malaria but with DENGUE...Ugh! you better think twice! We used to have hundreds of mosquitoes flying all around our house morning, noon, and night time not only in the living room but also in the bedrooms and bathrooms. But although temporarily , there is a way to get rid of them. First, try to burn mosquito incense. Mosquito incense come in various scents and different colors like: green, red and violet and .... Start burning a coil of mosquito incense/20 sq.m in the morning, at noon, and in the evening. That would help (at least). Another way to get rid of those blood suckers is to burn dried leaves a good distance from your house every afternoon. Hang your clothes inside the cabinets and not just anywhere as mosquitoes love to hide behind or within those that are exposed. Also, turn all water containers upside down when not in use. However, some mosquitoes are tough so if you unluckily happen to have those kinds of mosquitoes still pestering you after trying all of the above, keep an "OFF" MOSQUITO-REPELLENT LOTION within your reach at all times. But the best way to solve your problem about mosquitoes is to have mosquito screen installed all around your house.

Hi vince
If they are that bad, perhaps you should talk to the people in power in your community and have the area sprayed.
When I lived in Florida, we had a spray truck come through every so often to spray, and it really did do the job.
Other than that, I guess musquito nets would be your best bet.

The government people do spray the city once a month, but it's hopeless. Also hopeless to talk to them, if you know what I mean...

There are gadgets you can buy that repell the mosquitos, some use ultrasonic waves and supposedly the bugs hate the noise of it. There are repellents that need a propane tank hooked up to it, I assume they emit a smell that the mosquitos don't like, not sure exactly. Here is a website I found with some different gadgets that repell the mosquitos as well as other pests, hope you find it useful...

Hmm... This method sounds interesting. I believe this won't give any side effects to human. Everything tried out previously were chemicals and I read somewhere that using too much of it can lead to cancer. Thanks anyway, I'll give that a try.

hi vincemchahon How do the mosquitos get into your living room? Are there open windows letting them in , screen all windows as you should not have mosquito inside a home surely. You could burn citronella candles as thats supposed to get rid of them. Also check any standing water out side like in old inner tubes or pots or containers of any kind, dump out any standing water as they breed fast in that. Check any water left outside and if you have a small pool get some mosquito fish to gobble them up.But do not have unscreened open window, screen the varmints out of your home.

Fabric softner sheets! My grandma swears by them. We would go to picnics n things outdoors and she would always wear them in her shoes/hair, etc and it really did keep them away. It's something you probably have around the house and would at least be worth a try!

I do not know where you live, but I know that purple martins are known to consume a lot of mosquitos. Usually you can put up martin houses and it won't take too long before a bunch of them move in. They eat a lot of mosquitoes. Maybe that will help and it will be good for the environment, give them a place to live and be of little cost to you!

in my area government spreads smoke for these mosquitoes so i am not having a big problem of mosquitoes.....the thing always close the windows and doors in the evening......just close all the doors and windows at 6pm....then due to this mosquitoes won't enter to your home but the mosquitoes who are already inside will affect so kill them by electrical bat or you can make them to stay away if you use products like good night or all out.......good night has better results and i dont think there is any side effect of that

What you are saying is not sounding too good. It raises the chances of getting and passing mosquito related deseases. First thing to do is to clear every possible breeding place of the mosquitos. Then you can get rid of the living ones by using some gadgets or the most traditional way we have here is to smoke the house. You would have to be outside for a few hours thought then clear the house.

It can cause diseases such as Malaria and other dangerous diseases. But its bite are more annoying than diseases. Right now, I'm more annoyed by their bites and diseases spread by them would be a bonus. Still finding ways to get rid of them. Thanks for your valuable suggestion, will try them...
