Do you think it is right for an employer to check someone's social site(s) before hiring them?

NO, I sure don't. I don't think that has anything to do w/a job. I bet it would keep alot of people from getting hired, who knows. Guess they could learn alot from some of the sites.

I was betwix and between to Antique Lady, but there is so many crazy stuff going on. I think if I was the employer I would check it just to see what type of person I will have in my work environment. I would want to know.

Absolutely. The fact of the matter is when you put something out on the web in an unsecure site you know the potential risk. Checking someone's social networking site can tell you alot about the kind of employee this person may be. If there are images of this person that could be potential damaging to the company it is better to know about them before the person is hired than after.

I do agree with you on that. If they put it out there for the world to see they must not have a problem with it or just do not care.

I think that it's bs that they will look on people's profiles and judge them on their clothes, favorite music, etc. but it's completely legal and they will do it. The only thing that you can really do is keep your profiles private. I believe that what people do, wear, etc. outside of work has nothing to do with how we will perform at a job, but society has its way of keeping people where they are.
