I know that most of us does. Many moms know how to throw down when it comes to being in the kitchen. They have a magic touch. Well apparently, my mother-in-law does not have this magic touch. I have known my husband for 11 years. We have been married for 9 years. It will be 10 years on the 12th of this month. I have never seen him eat anything that his mom ever cooked. I have. I don't really like the way that she cooks. She does not put any seasoning into her meats. She just uses an onion and a little bit of black pepper. If she uses any kind of seasoning, it will be just a pinch of it. Their is never any flavor to her meats. I have seen her told her tell my husband that there was food on the stove that he can eat. But he never does. I find it very strange that he never eats anything that his mom cooks. His father can cook really good though. When he was younger, I think that my husband used to eat his mom's cooking. When I first moved into their house, my father-in-law did most of the cooking, while my mother-in-law just sat around waiting for the food to cook. Last year, she needed my advice on how to cook rice. She cooked the rice and it was still raw at the top. She needed more water into the rice. I could look at the rice and tell that this was the problem. I told her to add some more water to the rice. And when she did, it came out cooked very well. She was so happy that I helped her. But it is nothing to it. What do you think about a son never eating any of his mom or father's cooking?

My mom does the cooking all the time for the family, but not all of the food cooked by my mother tastes good. When I was in my early teens, I complained sometimes, but not ever since I started to work after graduation. My father used to do some cooking as well, but compared with that of my mother's, I prefer my mother's cooking. Now I have a family of my own. My wife does the cooking and I like her cooking very much. Take care, cream.

My mom can not cook, bake she can do, but she never could cook. My dad can cook, I guess it's been years since I've had his cooking, except for this past Thanksgiving. One thing I do not like that my dad made was chicken n dumplings, because of the biscuits he used and because of the dark meat. I don't really like dark chicken meat, or atleast I used to not.
My grandmother can cook, or she could when she did... My aunt can cook... lol but that's not what your asking. Let me get to the point, yes my mother in law and father in law can cook, they are both good cooks, and my husband eats their food with pleasure (except for the stuff he doesn't like).
I come from a family of cooks mostly, BUT I can't cook YET. I'm well on my way though, I've got recipe books and the desire to learn. When my husband and I get our own house I imagine I'll be cooking alot just because I've always wanted to. I used to watch my grandmother cook and help her when I was younger... oh there I go off topic again lol.

I have always enjoyed my mother's cooking. When i was a child, there were things she made thsat I didn't like. Now, i seldom find something my mother has made that I would decline. My father, God rest his soul, was a different story. He could not even boil water. You would not have wanted to try his cooking. He did have one great cooking talent to his name though. He was great at the charcoal grill!

I just dont eat them I miss them so much! I think my mom is the best cook. No one can beat her skills. I love my mom's cooking especially this special recipe he has with vegetables. I dont know the name in english but its "kare-kare" here in the Philippines. My dad also has his own specialty and I miss it too. He taught me how to make it though but its not the same with his own cooking.

He is either too finacky or they don't cook very well. I think he should learn to cook and do some cooking. Different people cook different ways. An onion and some black pepper is good for some things but not for all. Sad that she never learned to cook any better than that. I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to eat their cooking if it wasn't good.

Happy week early anniversary, cream97! My hubby's father is/was a great cook too - in fact he was the one who made most of the meals for the family when hubby was growing up. I remember for holiday feasts he'd make some fancy recipes that I would never attempt - and always successful. Now he's acting "old" and he won't cook anymore, which is a shame - I loved his soups and stews in particular. But mother in law, she would admit she's not the greatest cook in the world (heck, she has problems heating up food these days!). I don't think hubby has ever "not" eaten her cooking . . . gotta eat whatever is served, but I know he had his complaints. I remember him telling me she used to throw raisins into EVERYTHING and he hated that. Also, she gave the kids boring bologna sandwiches for their entire school years and he hated that. I've seen MIL in the kitchen and she gets absent minded about things - gets real nervous too, kinda flustered. I remember she made dinner for us once, and she was having a hard time boiling up pasta.
I'm the type of person who eats anything . . . so for me to not eat someone's cooking, the food has to be seriously bad. Did you ever ask your husband why he never eats his mom's cooking? Surely your MIL must notice! If I were MIL, I guess I'd flat out ask why he wasn't eating my food . . . and if my cooking were that bad, I'd get better cookbooks or cooking lessons - hee hee!! Maybe that's something to give her next Christmas - hee hee!!

My mother cook for us ever day, I will eat at home ever day after work, no matter how late, when I reach home there always be food ready to eat. She like to cook, and she cooks very well. Especially her fried noodle is really nice, no matter how many time I eat, I will still like it. You will never get to eat that kind of delicious fried noodle from every single stall, restaurant or someone else from this world except my mother. :)

Well, I can't say that I see a problem with someone not eating their mom's food if the food is not very good. I know a few moms, but not my own, who are like this, and they are pretty aware of the fact that they are not very good cooks, so then there really is no problem. My own Mom is great at cooking though, I love her food, so we never had this problem in my family!

As a son, I don't eat my mom's cooking but I do eat my dad's. I think it's mainly because my mom just hurries it up and does it as fast as she can, and when she's done it doesn't turn so good, while my dad puts a bit more effort to the cooking and the taste so it actually tastes good. But in the whole, I like the manufactured food more than home made food, but I don't know why.
