I've watched Ghost Ship before. There were some intense moments for sure, not a bad show.

I don't have the most scariest movie in mind, but along the lines of Poltergeist, Exorcist and real home haunted stories can really capture my mind into a vividness. There was this movie called Sleepy Hallow, acted by Johnny Depp, that one was rather intense too. Lots of suspense moments. Some gore stories like Wrong Turn can chill one too when watching, because realizing the fate of what's going to happen to the victims and all that.

Hiya mojorisin, I think you have explained all of that in details. I have watched Hellraise I and II too.. and I think you are right.. normally if there are too many sequels, can be a bit boring. Imagine Saw?? I didn't manage to watch all, but some said the recent sequel is getting gory(ly) boring, if there's ever such a word..
But I still think those are too bloody for me, lol.. but there are indeed gore lovers out there. Just imagine the real world having people like that too, oh yeah yikes!!

I think a lot of the horror films are a bit repetitive and unbelievable. I thought the movie Wrongturn or The Hills Have Eyes were freaky and realistic, there are people out there like that.OOOOHHHHH CREEPY!!! My favorite horror flicks of all time though are HellraiserI and HellraiserII. Interesting concept, realistic effects, very graphic, great characters, (Pinhead my fav)...love it! The second movie explains in more detail how it all began, great for a horror film! Don't bother watching the third movie it is the typical mindless blood and guts flick, they always take a good thing and push it too far.

For me, I would say one of the scariest movie ever is The Exorcist... The first Exorcist the one with Linda Blair... Because there's a part 2 or part 3 I think which is already very exaggerated.
It has the originality and even if it was made I think in the '70s, it is not necessary to made a movie with a lot of computer generated scenes...
The Exorcists really creeps me out...
