Feeling bad and hoping that is has not spoilt my reputation!

I have been absent from mylot for the last couple of days as I have been visiting my daughter while I attended an old friend's funeral.
When I returned home and switched on my PC this morning I had a message from another member about a problem that she was having from a banner on my profile page for clixos.com.
I have had this banner on for almost 2 months now, it was I site I went to from a similar banner on another member's profile ( a well trusted and long standing member at that!!).
I joined the site and as it was at the stage that I was just setting up my profile page I added the banner.
When I tried to use the site it didn't seem to work properly and I never bothered with it again and thought no more about it.
However I have noticed getting a warning sign when I've been opening my profile but never thought much about it (to be honest I thought it was one of these scams you get for downloading spyware stuff)
As soon as I got this message I deleted the banner and I have written to admin about it.
But after seeing a thread about this from the member who notified me, I got the impression that people thought that I had put this virus on myself, one member said they won't visit my profile now.
I feel awful about this, I did nothing intentionally wrong, I was doing what - to me as a new mylotter as I was then- most other members were doing by putting the banners on. believe me I am technically completely incapable of being able to put a virus on anything other than sneezing on someone!!
I just do hope that this hasn't damaged my reputation on mylot, I feel dreadful about it.

After seeing this I have removed the banner from my profile too, though it wasn't causing problems.
The same thing happened last month with a banner from Cashium on my profile and others too.
Even 'well trusted and long standing member's join sites that then later have problems. It would be great if we all had a crystal ball don't you think?

Oldchem I think you are old enough not to bother about what other people think. Whatever you do you can never please them all. Those that want to find fault will do so regardless, while the rest of us know that you cannot be held responsable for something pertaining to that site itself.

If I were to check some one else's web, I would switch the ON of my browser .. for detecting malware and spyware and viruses. I also have my protection of AVG anti virus working on full go.
so, I would not have bothered with the so called BANNER based trojan... that crept into your profile.
and, then, no point in talking bad about you at all. .. dear lovely lady~ ...

Hi Oldchem,
I didn't even notice anything about this but don't be so hard on yourself. Anyone that knows you knows that you would not deliberately do that to people on here. Getting a virus on your computer is never fun and I'm sure the person that said they'd never visit your profile again was just speaking out of frustration. Don't worry. Everyone still loves you here.

I think most people do understand this. After all, you do not seem to be the type of person to intentionally put a virus on someone's PC. I hope everything gets smoothed out with those other members, but do not worry about it. There are plenty more Mylotters who accept you and will visit your page. After all, it is not your fault as you had no intention of doing harm.
You did run your virus scanner to be certain you do not have the virus from that site? I recommend super anti spyware, a free utility to help clean out your pc just in case, and if you have a windows based PC then the windows Microsoft Security Suite.

Hi oldchem, I note that you are innocent here and God knows that you didn't do the thing intentionally...I don't think that it spoiled your reputation on myLot.
