Do you think that preschool child education is important? Did you send your 2 or 3 years old toddler to some math learning center? I have friend that send her children to a math leaning center where they will help to improve the child rational thinking, logical thinking and math ability. Do you believe in all this? Will this work for a 2 or 3 years old children?

I'm still 4 months away from having my own baby (yehey!) I, too, am considering this idea. I totally am in favor with this because it develops the child's self-confidence and interpersonal skill. At first I thought of it just a play school. Now I realized that it is also important to know if a play school has Math as part of their curriculum.

Congratulation! Now there are many child development center where offer certain important subject like math and languages. As we know, we have to use math in everyday life. You need math to count on everything. And you need language to learn other things.

I think if the child goes to preschool it should be so they can learn to get along with other children and learning to be away from home if they are not already in daycare. I have read different studies and none have shown that pushing children at an early age has any benefits. They do show however that if you push children too much it does backfire. It is getting crazy. Kindergarten is now what 1st grade used to be. When are kids allowed to just be kids? I call it a good day when we have no melt downs. I have a 3 year old who had already learned her entire alphabet by sight and know the sounds that they make, she knows colors and numbers and can count objects (when she wants to that is) but I have not forced these things on her at all she wanted to learn. I do not drill her with flash cards on a daily basis, I let her play in the dirt. I want her to be a kid first and if she wants to learn things early I find her stuff to help that she finds fun to do. I think we need to give the kids a break and let them be kids not trying to make them have a career plan by time they hit kindergarten. There is plenty of time for this later in life.

I think your daughter is very smart where she can learn by herself. Many parent will try to teach their kids as much knowledge as possible but sometime the kids just couldn't get anything. There must be some methods to use in order to let the kids likes to learn. But I think most of the parent will like the natural way.

It is, at this stage the child rapidly develops including his brain function and every environment she/he is in is big factor. But not in all cases I have experience a hands on one, one of my cousin was enrolled into school in his early years, later He tire at the school setting and have a crisis of not wanting to finish school (during his final year at elementary). Until now hes struggling to finish his degree.

I think sometime this is related the brought up environment that will bring the effect to them at later time. Just like if the basic for a child is not build up during his preschool, this will definitely affect their life later, they will struggle to learn at the primary, secondary or even university just because they do not have a strong foundation. If their basic is strong and they understand what they are doing, I am sure they will be able to do other thing easily especially in their education.

Why trouble your child at such an early age like 2. I feel the child should be at least 3 and 1/2 years old to be able to go to school to learn. Don't pressurize your child too early. Let them learn from the parents. Give your child a lot of love. Make your child feel loved and cared for about 3 years. It is always advisable to send your children to school only after the child crosses 3 years of age. They are better at that age to learn and develop. Putting pressure on them early might make them dull. So be careful and don't hurry with your child.

Yes, children need love, but at this information age. Everything needed to be fast, that's why children need to catch up as fast as possible as well. Many parent scared that if they send their children to school late, their children will learn less and cannot catch up in the school later. I have read some research that discovered that children will absorb as much as possible from a few month to 5 years old. That is why many parent will like to send their children to school as early as possible.

I believe that preschool education is very important. it is a stepping stone for your child's education. Itg is also the best place for a child to learn social skills as well. Preschool is the best palce for a child to begin their education. Every child can benefit from this in their own special way.

Yes, I agree, children need to mix with others to learn social skills, they need to learn to share and how to live together with others. Especially for today's kid, they are more exposed to the internet and they will get addicted to the internet, so the best way is to send them out and make friend with the people outside of the house.

Hi! I think whoever that can integrate the playing part into education will be most effective in teaching the kid to learn. With this kind of methods, they will have more interest in learning. Children always cannot separate with playing. If you want them just to learn without playing, they will get bored and definitely they will dislike learning in their later age. Children need to get expose to the outside world and they need to mix with other so that they can learn how to interact with others. They will learn how to share, how to make friend and how to play with friend.

I don't think early learning centers are necessary when children are getting enough healthy attention and mental stimulation from their own parents. At two and three years, children seem to do a lot of aimless things, but they are learning about their world. Spending time with your kids and bonding with them while they're young is more important that any formal training they receive. You can teach your kids math, reading, art, and many other subjects by playing simple games with them. A preschool teacher who taught traditional 4-year-old preschool once told me that she didn't think children should be taught much reading or math before preschool because those children were ahead of the others in class, would get bored with the lessons and misbehave out of their boredom. That "troublemaker" label can follow a child from year to year; maybe it's best to let kids learn at their own pace!

I think that is an what most of the people will have the same idea that if we send children to preschool earlier will make them feel bored to at the later time when they go to primary school and they will become a troublemaker. But I have read a research that say that children should be send to school as early as possible because they start to learn thing will be as early as a few month or may be at the fetus stage. Children that have learn earlier will not only feel bored when they go to primary school but will actually feel fun because they feel that learning for them is so easy because they have learn that before. And this will make them easy to advance to the next level.

Hi yspmyl I sent both my Children to Kindergarten at that age because it is important that they learn to socialize However I do not believe that at the age of 2-3 years old they need to learn Maths or anything like that let them enjoy their Toddler Stage They are still Babies and do not need to learn already they will get enough of that in School when they start which will also start another part in their Life so no I would not have sent my Children there it is robbing them of a p[art of their Life My 2 only went to Kindergarten and they have both done well enough in School both have great Jobs

Hi yspmyl, I think the pre-school education is important but sending a 2/3 year old for maths class, is something I can’t digest. Pre-schooling is helping the child in a positive way. We can prepare them for school by sending in pre-school. They will learn through play, they will learn how to mingle with their class mates and how to behave with the teacher. The kids who attended their pre-school are doing well in school than who don’t attend the pre-school. I am writing this from the practical experience of my friends.

May be your point of view are correct, but as the math development center claim that the earlier for a toddler to start to learn math is better due to their brain are still developing and fresh to input a lot of thing. We are use to the usual way of calculating and many of us do not have the systematic way of logical thinking. So, of we send our children to them, the children will learn about logical thinking through play using math and also rational thinking as well. I am not sure that whether this is true or not, but I have seen with my own eye that a 3 year old kid and do a few pages of simple math like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

I am a mother to two different children, a seven year old daughter that will be starting second grade next month and a three year old son that stays at home with me during the day. My daughter never went to preschool and my son hasn't either. Though it is still too early to pass judgement about how my son will do in school when he starts in a couple of years, I don't think that my daughter missed anything by not going to preschool. She is at the top of her class and well above her grade level at school.

Well kids are usually sent to playschools at such a young age, It's the age where i believe that their mind starts to grow and they learn and absorb many new things quick and soon. So they are usually outstanding when they are young. Parents can't teach everything to children and also they have their jobs o do so they send their children to learning centers. As they grow old they get so used to learning that they consider it a little burden for them. I mean they have already learnt so much and they start to think that what's the point in learning more?So there begins our problems.

Yeah, many parent have think that way as you think, they just scare that their children learn too fast and get bored when go to primary school. But I do not think that children are like that, for me, they will like to learn more if they have learn something during their young age like 1 or 2 and when they go to primary school, they will find that things are very much easier for them, this will definitely help them to have the interest to learn more but not in the other way. And they will be easier to learn something more difficult easily.

Yes, children at very young age can learn very fast and absorb a lot of new things. If you have a child, you will find that they learn super fast at the age of 1 to 3 and a bit slow down after that. This is because at the age of 1 to 3 or may be earlier is the time for them to learn, and they have a lot of interest on every single thing on the world. You will find that they will like to ask many question and always ask you why on this and that.

A child should be able to live like a child. As a toddler, play is their main job and hence they should be playing. Many people put their child in preschools because of the standard of the school curriculum. If the child does not attend preschool, they might not be able to cope with the progress of the other child. For sure, the school will move on disregard one child's ability to keep up.

I had to sisters that were much older than me (by about 12 years) and they were showing me how to read before I ever went to school. I loved reading adventure books. When I went to school then I found reading very easy. Math though took me a little longer. I don't think my sisters like math because they didn't show me anything! _Derek

I think preschool education is very important because this the time a child is more curious about things. This is the time we should instill in the importance of education. This is the best time to guide them also. So if you have children you better enroll in preschool.

I should think so. A preschool education is one of the most important in a child's life. Sending a child to a math learning center should not give him/her an extra problem. What matters here is the curriculum that is prescribed. Not one that is too concrete but one that is colorful and fun to help a child crosses a world of data in order to cope with life later on. It's just an early headstart. And its good!

I am a Preschool Teacher. I do think it is important but the kids that come here mostly learn social skills. They also learn a lot through playing. In the 3 hours that they are here, they are actually only sitting down learning for about 45 minutes. I feel that is plenty of time since they are so young! They do learn a LOT and pick up a LOT from me and the other children. =)

Yes I think preschool education is important because that is the base of the child and in this way child will be growth with his or her excellency so the preschool education must be given to all the children of the school because this is the way by which world will become strong and in this way everyone will be educated in this world.
