I wondered if anyone out there had had any dealings with the CSA -which is UK based . I've waited over 3 years and it reached bailiff action but finally got £730 and am now waiting for the rest of the arrears. All I can say to anyone out there struggling with this appallingly inept Govt agency-keep trying -it'll be worth it in the end if you keep trying and go to Tribunal-if you have a case just keep appealing. In the meantime don't let it eat away at you -just deal with it from time to time and then put the papers in a box and every now and then phone, contact an MP etc -I did that for 3 years to now start getting payments.
I know it's only money but it's also justice -fathers SHOULD pay for their children.

I haven't had any dealings personally with the CSA, however one of my friends has and she is appalled by the way they handled things. Like you say it takes many years to get to a settltment, and when she did get there her ex partner was forced to pay the equivalent of 12p per day to help pay for the upbringing of his 11 year old daughter.
Obviously my friend is very upset at the outcome and feels as though a man (her ex) who is a successful business man should have paid some sort of arrears and more towards funding his childs needs.

I absolutely agree and tjis is similar to what happened to me-my ex was self employed, lied about his earnings and I was awarded £7 a week -LOL -not even enough to pay for my sons shool dinners
I went to 3 Tribunals, wrote to my MP and was pro-active, but not all the time because it is emotionally exhausting -every now and then I'd write to complain to the CSA about their incompetence and i got about £100 compensation over the 3 years. Tell your friend to keep appealing because if he's a business man and can only afford 12p a day -does he get housing benefit? If not why not -does he own a nice house? -she needs to take facts like these to the tribunal and not be scared because they seemed quite willing to believe me when I went. Some proof of his lifestyle also helps
