My child just "mastered" potty training at last, at 31months. It was a great milestone which really left me breathless because I have been trying for so long and mostly because I was in a lot of strain since my mother in law kept nagging me that she managed to potty train all her kids before they were 15months old. Anyway my dilemmas are 2... 1. the child tells me out of her own will that she needs to pee, but most times she only pees just a little bit, just a few drops. I do not mean to discourage her but I do tell her that it is best to do much more at one go. It is driving me crazy especially when I put her to bed because she is taking over 1 hour sometimes to fall asleep as she keeps telling me she needs to pee, sometimes even up to 7 times! 2. my kid manages to recognise the signal that she needs to pee but does not maange to do so when she needs to poo. I used to think that it is much simpler to master it the otehr way round. What do you think? Hope to hear your suggestiosn, tips and experiences...Thanks

for me, the best way to teach potty training is to show them how. i used that method to my three kids. when i pee, i show them where i pee and i repeatedly tell them what i am doing. in that case, it will stuck in their mind and eventually will try it on their own. i had my husband teach my boys how to pee on the toilet. it worked well too. i did use the potty trainer much because it turns my stomach inside out when i am cleaning it. i bought the potty training seat instead.

My goodness 31 months! I couldn't have coped, I'm afraid I'm like your MIL, mine were all trained between 14 - 16 months ( the boy being the 16 months!!!!) I used to just put knickers on my daughters and leave the potty where they could get to it easily, if they had an 'accident' knickers were easily washed. I honestly think that the use of disposable nappies (diapers) has made parents a little lazy with potty training. When my eldest were little and wore terry nappies that you had to soak, wah and dry believe me you were in one big hurry to potty train your kids!! I think the thing is to b relaxes with your little one and not to let them see that you are bothered and worried - don't worry though they all get there in the end!!
