Don't watch horror movies when you're pregnant.

I am now 21 weeks pregnant on our first baby. (yehey) Even before this pregnancy I really enjoy watching suspense, crime, horror movies. As you can see in most horror films, characters are ugly and are very morbid. My husband would always tell me to stop watching them because it might have a negative effect on our baby. He is afraid that our baby might copy the ugly faces of these characters.
Have you also experienced this kind of reprimand when you got pregnant? What can you say about this belief- do you believe it?

Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy - I hope it is all going well.
Secondly with no offence to your husbands beliefs whatsoever but I think the idea that your unborn baby could be effected in some way by you watching horror movies is a load of rubbish! It is true (at least experts believe) that babies do take in what they hear later in pregnancy - my daughter for one was soothed after she was born by a tune I played frequently in pregnancy though the most that could happen in my view with you watching a horror movie is that the baby may jump or kick and this in itself is not a bad thing. Of course Im not an expert at all so perhaps Im talking rubbish!!

I don't believe that your watching horror and suspense while you are pregnant is going to have any kind of negative effect on your baby at all. I know when I was pregnant with my daughter, that was actually the genres that my boyfriend and I preferred to watch and now our daughter is seven and a half years old, she is one of the most caring and sympathetic people that I've ever met in my life. If it would have had a negative impact on her, then I don't think she would be the person that she is today.

Erm no, first off, I don`t see any scientific reason to your baby being ugly because of watching too many horror movies. That would be attributed to genes. Second, maybe your husband just doesn`t like to watch horror movies, and that`s the real reason he wants you to stop. :P And third, congratulations on your pregnancy, prayers for your safe delivery. :D Don't worry, you're not the only one, I too, loved to watch Saw and Final Destination when I was pregnant. :))
