Have you heard about the book "How to be a rockstar freelancer" ? Maybe it'll help you gain some information about how to start and function as a freelancer. You can check out my blog on my profile page, and in my blog you can find the link to download the ebook. All the best.

Underbid means somebody place a lower bid than yours, it means somebody place a lower price than yours, you can uncheck the option for mailing you when you have been underbid in the project you are bidding...

I like the idea of freelancer.com and it is very nice implementation but to me it looks more serving to the job giver then to freelancer because if freelances doesnt have positive feedback (yet) and/or didnt pay for tests and/or didnt confirm any educational assets, the chance to get a job is extremely close to zero. Who would want to hire such worker who can only say that he wants a job? Just look through those bidders under the project description - place yourself on the position of the author of the project, if he is serious person, would he choose you? I think looking for the job at freelancer.com is no different from the real world looking for someone over-aged without much of education but having experience and skills, if he/she will be able to PROVE skills he will then get a job, otherwise.. nothing.
