FTP (File Transfer Protocol) - for file sharing, for example you uploaded a game client on your website the guy who will download your client will use FTP so the could be downloaded from your website.
HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) - protocol mainly used for web surfing.

Hi siliguri
FTP stands for file transfer Protocol while HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol. HTTP is used for displaying webpage on any browser. FTP is used for fast file transfer. Disadvantage of FTP is it will occupy complete bandwidth available. So if you are down loading using FTP and want to run any other application it will be very very slow as bandwidth will not be available for other applications.

http (hypertext transfer protocol) is the process by which you can read or view web pages held on other computers or servers. it's a read only process.
ftp (File Transfer Protocol) is a process where you can upload or download files that you have created or have permission to access and can send or receive them to work with.

Http and Ftp is a protocol that serves at medium for transfer of file or data.
Only lies in distingushingactual results data. Ftp transfer unsafe way to transfer file because the files are transfered without enscription first, but through a clear text.Text mode is used for data transfer format is ASCII or binary format. By default, ftp using ASCII for data trasfer Because delivery without encryption. Then username, password data transfer and commands that are sent to the sniffing by people using protocol annallyser (sniffer).

FTP is file transfer protocol and HTTP is hypertext trnasfer protocol. Suppose if a webmaster has shared some files to download, he can use FTP account for doing that. SO if domain name is abc then to access that shared files, you need to type ftp://www.abc.com. and to view complete website, you need to type http://www.abc.com
