salad dressing

I always invent different kinds of salad dressing...whatever is in my refrigerator. But to answer your question, based on what I have read in the past, I think the Babylonians were the first people to invent it by using oil and vinegar. The Romans also were said to use salt as a dressing. However using salt in the salad, I guess would dehydrate the vegetables.
