I am a big fan of the twilight books. I have read and re-read them many times and will admit to often visiting web sites about the series. It was on one of these websites that I began to come across people with websites, petitions, campaigns etc to get their child to be picked as the actress for renesmee cullen. I am a mother of 3 daughters all of whomb I consider to be beautiful, however I would not make the decision for them at the age of around 5 or 6 to paste them all over the internet and beg for them to have a part in a film, probably because I love the films! I know this may sound a bit harsh but when we live in a society which builds far too much around celebrity and fame I am a little bit disturbed by parents pushing this lifestyle choice upon their children in such a huge way.
What do you all think? Am I overreacting??

Your not over-acting.It's quite scary to post picture of kids in the internet. Who knows of the dangers it will bring. But I guess the people who have posted these pictures are aware and ready for the consequences they may face.
Regarding twilight, I can't help but feel intrigued on who will portray Renesmee's character. I guess we are left to no choice but to wait.

I can't decide if it would be best for them to attempt a variety of similar looking kids to cover different ages/ stages, or one child whose image could be manipulated like those in Benjamin Button.

I understand your feelings, yes, it is always very disappointing for some parents out there who pushed their children and insisted their personal choices, I think parents should respect their children's rights by not putting them in stuff which can compromise their future and privacy. Posting pictures of children in the internet is not safe and could bring danger to the well being of the kids since their privacy will not be protected anymore. Parents should never do such thing, by compromising the privacy of their children just to become famous or make money out of it, that's ridiculous.
Just leave it to the Summit Entertainment where to get an actress for Renesmee on Breaking Dawn sequel. I think, they will get someone from showbiz whose parents are also active in the industry or maybe they would have some auditions and pick their choice and the rest will be done through a camera trick, since Renesmee will have an adult mind in a child's body.

No... I think it's pretty disturbing too. I love Twilight, but if I had a daughter then I would never push for her to be picked as an actress for the movie. To me, that would be putting my obsession over the well-being of my child. Well I don't have kids, but I'm sure that many parents would agree with me.
I think some of the Twilight fans have really taken things too far.
