I think may are employed and working with various places. Can you remember the day when you got your first salary and what was your experience and what did you do with that money? I like to know from you. When I got my fist salary I given the entire amount to my mom and that time father said, now I know whom you love too much....

so nice of you to give all money to your mom... when I got my first salary, I went to buy my ideal bed and my musical instrument.... lol... I did not give to my mom because she would never take any money from children and if we do she will hurt and whatever we give her, she more than double of that she will give us back.... so I did like that....

Hi,
The size was't matter. They all aware the amout of money what I was getting and though it was a small sum, and can't do anything much with it. But as a pleasure, something happening in our life for the first time and when it become part of how it is sharing, they might be thinking differently and I was not though of much about it.
Sorry to say that I didn't given it to my dad. But I had to do it and I made an error, serious error. I cannot even tollerate it, becuse I loved him soooo much and I cannot express how much it was, though I didn't expressed. He was totally a different man. When I talk about him, I could not stop. But in this case, I did not think that he would say like that, though he talk it in a silly and simple manner. But I should have to consider it. He was such a simple and loving person.
How is your mother now? Hope she is in good health and doing well.

you love your father too much, I wish if I could be closer to my father but I was not , there was a big gap between me and him, I used to ignore him and whenever he wanted to talk to me, I was running and when he could sit and talk to me I was just listening and not saying anything.. now when I remember, tear sit to my eyes, I would never anytime think that I will lose my father one day in my life... I do not know why I used to ignore him that much maybe just because I saw tears in my mom eyes in my childhood, maybe because my father was a strict army man and used to think if we are his soldiers... but now that I lost him, I understand his valued but what is the benefit... I hurt him with my selfish behave ....

When i recieved my first salary, i spent it the next saturday with friends cuz there was always this thing going on with us that whenever you earn your first salary, you have to treat them out for a drink and clubbing so that's what i did. Lol. It kinda sucks though the next morning thinking everything just slipped away just like that. Well, not everything. I kept an amount for bills and all. :)

Hi dear,
Think it is little bit expensive.
Star a habit of saving also at the same time.
Do a compulsory saving at least 10% today onwards.
It will make a 100% difference after 10 years.
In fact I didn't have a habit of saving regularly.
This formula I got about 11 years back and I followed it.
The amount that I started saving at that time (10 years before)
have a value of 200% now. That means if you save $1 to day, after
10 years it value may be atlest 100% compared to this time.
Check it out.
Regards,
Thank-s

well, my first paycheck wasn't really a real salary. at the time, i was a trainee so i only received an allowance. we got it after two months of training so we were really psyched about it. it was my first job, as was the case with most of my batch mates at work. it wasn't much but after two months of receiving nothing, we were really happy to cash out our checks. i remember that day, we went straight to the mall and had a sort of celebration dinner. it was all we could do since the money we got was so little. before going home, i bought a cake to take home to my family.

yup, it was such a memorable paycheck. and at that time too, we thought that we wouldn't even get the job, even on probation. because there was an issue that they were over-staffed at the time.

i can hardly remember what i did with my first salary! haha! I was not obliged to give a part of it to my mom or dad so it stayed in my payroll account, for a couple of days only. eventually zeroed out because i was eating at fancy restaurants and hanging out with my friends often. sad to say, it was really a bad habit and i regret not saving a part of it because right now i need it more for my own family.

Hi,
Thank you for your comment.
Don't bother. You will earn more in due course of time and slowly can start saving one you are stable in your income and if possible, purposively reduce the unwanted extra expenses and cut down fancy expenditue on fancy food and cosmetics and spend wisely which is only really required.
If you observe a few things in your life, a lots of money can be saved. Try for just one year, you will realise the fact. If not, tell me.
Best of luck and my best regards,
Thank-s

I still remember when I got the first salary. At that time I was 19 years old, I was a teacher of art at Junior High School while I was studying in Art department in one Institute. How happy I am I got the first salary, and I told to my mother, actually I wanted to give it to her,but she asked me to buy food to eat together with my brother and sister.I could see that my mother was very proud of me.

Yes, just like you, even I started earning by teaching and it happend where I studied and I was much happy on the same. When I started teaching, there were students of my junior batch as the students in my class room and find it much difficult to handle them as they got the relationship as friends than a student.
I took a nice skirt for my siter and hand over the rest of money with my mother. But after almost an year time, on some talk or discussion, my dad was telling that I though he will give me some money as a token of gratitude. In fact, I didn't thought of it and when he said in such a way, I felt bad and I never realised that my dad was so anxious about it and I did not realised the fact.
Though it was a simple matter, I still feel sorry for the same and my dad is no more now when I cross through such an occasion, I alwys remember about him.
Thanks for your comments.

Wow well it has been many years ago since my first job and first pay check. I worked for my uncle at age 16 packing cedar shakes and bundling them. That was when the minimum wage was $1.25 an hour. I got $100 for my first check and thought it was a lot of money and I spent it on gifts for my siblings all younger than me and my mom and dad and saved a little until my next check when I bought a new record player and 10 45 records.

I remember the first time I got paid. I was babysitting for a wealthy, generous family and they payed me 50$ for 3 hours of baby sitting! 7 years later and I still don't make 16$ an hour at my "real" job...
I was 16 at the time and I took my mom out for dinner with the money the next day. It was such a good feeling!

I can't quite remember my first salary. Maybe because I had a very lousy salary on my first job so when I got my salary it just felt like I didn't have it coz it's too small, LOL. But I did remember my first salary from my third job coz my salary already got bigger. They send it out only once a month instead of dividing it into the 15th & 30th so when we receive our payslips we see a healthier figure :) All my salary usually just ends up with me although I tried once giving some of it to my father but he turned it down saying that I should keep my salary to myself coz I worked hard for it and I deserve it. My father has always been a selfless man :) I'm not employed right now and just depend on my husband and the internet for my source of income. I must say that I do sometimes miss the moments of ripping off those envelopes that holds the payment slips and then seeing how much was taken by the government for the taxes and sometimes cursing them for taking almost half of my overtime incentives hehehe! :)

Well, I already have my own family when I got my first salary, I have to use it to finance the expenses of moving into the place of my work. My family is from a different town and when I got hired we decided to relocate and that's where I use the money to.

I remember when I got my first salary it is like I am receiving my allowance from my parents. When I had my first salary I gave some money to my parents and bought new office clothes. I had a minimum wage during that time. Up to now my salary is not enough that is why I am trying to spend it wisely now.

Your discussion took me 4 decades back to recollect my memory of my first salary when I started to earn - and my first salary was Rs 100/- which I gave to my father. He was overwhelmed with this and silently took me to a watch shop and offered me a watch branded name NIVEDA.
And also gave me Rs 10/- as my pocket money.
I cannot forget this in my life and the love my father extended to me.

I felt so nice of you and even I can imaging the amount of pleasure you must have got at that time.
Even my father was got so proud of me and he also suggested that keep at leat Rs 100 with me and keep a habit of saviang.
However, thank you so much for your post.

I remember my first salary 2 years ago and I felt so happy that I had that much money in one giving. I was naive that time and didn't know that what I was receiving was not worth for the risks and demands of my work. But back on the my first salary, I was soo happy that I treated my boyfriend to a movie and dinner. I was talking non-stop about the feeling of having my first salary in my hands. Anyway, I still feel happy when getting my salary when I was still in my previous job, but not as happy as before. Anyway, I'm sure newly graduates now will feel the same way on their first salary...I just don't know on their next ones :)

Yeah I remember it, when I got my first salary I kept it in the bank for as long as I could, I was convinced that it would grow lol, but needs must and I had to spend some, which annoyed me, all I wanted was for it to sit in the bank and be added to, could have done with a nice savings account lol.

I bought candy for my siblings and treated my family out for lunch in a restaurant. It felt great being able to spend money for my family. I saved a few so I have money to spend when I'm working. Earning my first salary means my parents won't give me allowance anymore. Everything I need or want, I have to buy. They just provide for my basic necessities (except clothing).

yeah i remember receiving my very first salary. my first job was part-time; i worked as a tutor. after a week i got what i worked for and i remember how my hand trembled at the amount i received. i've never had that much money my entire life. i was so crazed about it i thought i'd faint.
unfortunately, my experience wasn't one with a happy ending. my payment involved only 2 paper bills. when i went to school the next day i lost 1 of them. in short, i lost half of my first salary.(T_T)
surviving until the next pay day was a struggle alright. but i got through it somehow.

Hi,
I am a retired person. When I got my first salary I bought new clothes to my parents. They were very happy that time. I didn't have very big salary at the first job. My parents told me to keep the salary with me. My father was also working at that time. So they don't need my salary. I used to buy some things in the house.
